Chapter 3 – The Hidden Door

Chapter 3 – The Hidden Door

The forest had never felt so alive—or so dangerous. Every crunch of leaves under their feet echoed like a warning. Aleeha, Zayan, Maya, and Raheel moved cautiously, Raheel’s device still beeping wildly, guiding them deeper into the trees.

Suddenly, Maya stopped. "Wait… do you see that?"

A narrow path, almost invisible under the overgrown bushes, stretched ahead. At the end of the path, half-hidden behind a thick trunk, was a door—old, wooden, covered in strange symbols that seemed to shimmer in the moonlight.

"What… is that?" Zayan whispered.

Raheel stepped closer, examining the symbols. "These… I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s almost… alive. And the signal—it’s coming from there."

Aleeha’s heart raced. "Do we open it?"

Maya glanced at the group, her face a mix of fear and excitement. "We have to. This might be where Arman went."

They pushed the door slowly. It creaked loudly, revealing a narrow staircase that spiraled downward into darkness. A cold draft escaped from below, carrying whispers that sounded almost human—but distorted, like voices from far away.

"This is… not normal," Raheel muttered, shivering.

"Nothing about tonight is normal," Aleeha said firmly. She took the lead, flashlight in hand, stepping onto the staircase. The others followed, their footsteps echoing through the unseen tunnels below.

As they descended, the air grew colder. Shadows seemed to move along the walls, flickering and twisting. A faint green glow pulsed from deeper inside, and the whispers grew louder—calling names, laughing softly, almost teasing them.

At the bottom of the stairs, they found a massive stone archway covered in symbols identical to the door. Beyond it, a swirling mist shimmered with a light that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at once.

Raheel gasped. "That… that’s it. The portal. This is the Shadow World."

The friends stared at it, frozen between fear and curiosity. The whispers grew into a low hum, vibrating through their bones. And somewhere deep inside the mist, they could see… movement. Something was waiting for them.

"We have to go in," Aleeha said, her voice trembling but determined. "Or we’ll never know the truth."

One by one, they stepped into the glowing mist—and the world around them seemed to shift, like reality itself was bending. The air smelled strange, electric, and alive.

And in that moment, the adventure truly began.

The air inside the portal was thick and heavy, almost like it was pressing against their lungs. Aleeha, Zayan, Maya, and Raheel stepped carefully into the strange, glowing world. Shadows twisted along the ground, and the light seemed to bend unnaturally, creating shapes that shouldn’t exist.

"This place… it’s alive," Raheel whispered, his voice trembling.

Suddenly, a loud screech echoed around them. The ground shook. Maya grabbed Aleeha’s arm. "What was that?"

From the swirling mist, a figure emerged. Tall, thin, with limbs that moved in jerky, unnatural ways. Its eyes glowed faintly red, and a low hiss escaped its throat. The creature tilted its head, studying them like a predator sizing up its prey.

Aleeha’s heart pounded. "Stay calm… we need to move slowly."

Zayan stepped forward, trying to get a closer look. The creature suddenly lunged, faster than anything they had ever seen. They screamed, scattering in different directions.

Raheel tripped, dropping his device. Sparks flew, and the creature froze for a moment, as if confused by the light.

"Grab it!" Aleeha shouted. Zayan dove and snatched the device just in time. The beeping intensified, and the creature recoiled, letting out a horrifying screech that echoed like a scream through a tunnel.

Maya, catching her breath, whispered, "It… it knows we’re here. And it’s hunting us."

"We have to find Arman—and fast," Aleeha said. She led the group deeper into the Shadow World, keeping the device in front of them. The green mist twisted and shifted around them, hiding paths and revealing others, as if the world itself was alive and watching.

Then, in the distance, they saw a faint figure. Small. Struggling. Familiar.

"Arman!" Zayan shouted, running toward him.

The creature hissed again, this time louder and angrier. It darted toward them, shadows stretching across the misty ground.

Aleeha felt fear like she had never felt before—but also determination. This was just the beginning. The Shadow World had many secrets, and they were ready—or at least they had to be.
