Chapter 4 – The Distance I Created

The thought stayed with me.

Making her jealous.

It kept circling in my mind, over and over, until it felt like the only way left to reach her.

So I did it.

I made her jealous.

A picture.

Me… with another girl.

Something simple. Something calculated.

Something I thought would shake her.

I waited.

For a reaction.

For something—anger, confusion, even pain.

Anything that would prove she felt me.

But instead…

She moved away.

Not dramatically.

Not even visibly.

Just…

Distance.

She didn’t come back.

Not the way I expected.

Not at all.

And that—

That hurt more than anything I imagined.

Because she knows.

Deep inside, she knows I love her.

She knows there is something in me that bends toward her, always.

Something real.

Something that doesn’t lie.

And still…

She chooses to ignore me.

She avoids me.

Like I am something she decided not to feel.

Like I don’t exist in the space I’ve built around her.

It doesn’t make sense.

If she felt nothing, why does it feel like she is holding something back?

If she doesn’t care, why does her silence feel so loud?

Or maybe…

This is her way of protecting herself.

Walking away before something begins.

Before something becomes real.

Before something becomes dangerous.

And I stand here—

Watching the distance I created.

The space between us feels heavier now.

Not empty.

Not quiet.

But filled with everything unsaid.

“I just wanted you to look at me…” I whisper, more to myself than to her.

But maybe she did.

And chose not to.

And that thought—

That possibility—

Breaks something inside me.

Because for the first time…

I don’t feel in control anymore.

I feel left behind.

....
