Part 1: A Morning at the Academy
The next morning, Fena approached Demetrius, leaning in close. "Good morning, Demi-Demi~~" she chirped.
"Good morning," Demetrius replied steadily. As they walked into the school compound together, the hallways were buzzing as usual with gossip about Daisy and her clique. Fena and Demetrius, however, paid them no mind.
At that moment, Maria arrived. "Good morning, Fena!"
"Good morning, Maria," Fena smiled.
"Have you heard the news about Daisy?" Maria asked curiously.
Fena glanced toward the group and sighed. "Yeah, I heard, Maria... honestly, Fena went a bit overboard again." She then whispered with a mischievous glint, "Well, it’s because she kept clinging to my Demi-Demi, and besides, they were up to no good anyway."
Maria laughed, "Fair enough, Fena." The group then headed into the classroom and took their seats.
Fena turned to Maria, "Who’s coming to the fundraising gala tomorrow? Your mom or your dad?"
"My father is coming," Maria answered.
"What about you, Demi-Demi?" Fena asked.
"My father as well," Demetrius replied.
Fena beamed at him, "Really? My dad is coming too, hee-hee!"
"Is that so? That’s good," Demetrius noted. Fena turned back to the front, humming a cute little tune, clearly in high spirits.
Part 2: The Shopping Trip
After classes ended in the evening, Maria asked, "Fena, what kind of dress are you planning to wear?"
"The one I showed you before! The black long dress. It’s cool, right?" Fena replied confidently.
Maria visualized the dress and immediately placed a hand on Fena’s shoulder. "Let’s... go shopping, shall we?"
"Ooh! Okay, let's go!" Fena agreed. They headed out to their planned shopping spot. Maria spent the evening picking out various outfits for Fena. Fena tried on everything Maria suggested, though she wasn't quite satisfied at first. Finally, after much searching, they found the perfect one.
Part 3: The Gala Day
The day of the fundraiser arrived. Top students and their parents filled the hall. Demetrius and his father arrived early. Maria approached Demetrius and whispered, "Have you seen Fena yet?"
"No," Demetrius replied curtly.
"You’re going to be shocked when you see her," Maria teased. As they spoke, a few girls tried to crowd around Demetrius to get close to him. Maria warned him, "Don’t stand too close to them."
"I’m not the one standing near them; they are the ones coming to talk to me," Demetrius countered.
Suddenly, the arrival of the Heartifila family was announced. The name "Heartifila" sent a ripple of unease through the crowd. As they entered the hall, an icy atmosphere followed them; people froze, unsure of how to react (except for Demetrius’s and Maria’s families).
When Fena stepped into view, Maria gasped in awe. "So beautiful... that’s my beloved baby girl!"
Demetrius found himself speechless, unable to look away. His eyes immediately locked onto the jewel hanging from her neck. He was stunned—the color of the gemstone was the exact same shade as his own eyes. While he was still lost in thought, Fena walked over to them.
"Sorry I’m late," Fena said.
"Oh, not at all, Fena!" Maria replied before turning to Fena’s father. "Good evening, Uncle Damon."
"Good evening, daughter," Mr. Damon replied warmly.
Part 4: The Meeting of Two Giants
Mr. Damon looked toward Demetrius. "Demetrius, son... where is your father?"
"My father is over there... in the middle of that swarm of people clinging to him like bees to a hive," Demetrius pointed out.
Mr. Damon walked straight toward Mr. Donovan. The onlookers gasped, wondering why anyone would approach the formidable Mr. Donovan so boldly. As Mr. Damon drew near, the crowd instinctively parted.
Mr. Damon raised a hand. "Yo... Don! How’ve you been? It’s been a long time."
"Yeah, it’s been a while, Day," Mr. Donovan replied. The room fell into a stunned silence. Seeing the notoriously cold and distant Mr. Donovan greeting someone so casually was a shock to everyone.
Fena approached them as well. "Good evening, Uncle Donovan!"
"Ah, good evening! You must be Fena. You’ve grown so much! When you were little, you were so tiny I thought you’d never grow tall," he teased.
Fena puffed out her cheeks in mock annoyance. "Uncle! I’ve grown plenty! I drink lots of milk, so I’m very sturdy now!"
Mr. Donovan burst into laughter. "I’m just teasing. Now that is the Fena I know." He then turned to his son. "Demetrius... don't you dare make Fena cry."
"Yes, I understand, Father," Demetrius replied.
Part 5: Secrets and Mind-Reading
Mr. Donovan spoke up, "Demetrius, I need to have a private chat with Uncle Day. Could you kids give us some space?"
"Yes, understood," Demetrius said.
"You too, Fena," Mr. Damon added.
"Yes, Papa," Fena replied, and the two of them walked away together.
Fena turned to Demetrius. "Demetrius... how do I look? Do I look pretty?"
"You look fine," he answered simply.
Maria chimed in, "She looks beautiful... and you didn't even look at her properly!"
At that moment, Fena focused and read Demetrius’s mind.
'She’s so beautiful... like an angel. But wait, why is the color of her necklace the same as my eyes? Why did she choose to wear that...'
Fena whispered softly, "I understand, Demi-Demi."
Demetrius blinked, confused. "Fena... what did you just say?"
"Oh, nothing!" she laughed it off.
Fena then turned to Maria and asked, "How did you find out about that family’s business?"
"Me? At first, I was just going to finish off Daisy, but then I read their minds and everything came to light."
"I see... a lucky break then," Fena noted. Her expression then turned serious. "But Maria... about 80% of the people at this gala are just like Daisy’s family." Maria's face went pale with shock.
Part 6: The Ceremony and the Aftermath
When the ceremony officially began, the lights dimmed. The Headmaster gave the opening speech, but everyone’s attention remained fixed on Damon Heartifila and Donovan Desmond. The event proceeded with performances and charity auctions. Fena, sipping her juice, began scanning the room. In her mind, she was systematically filtering through the guests, identifying those who were hiding dark secrets behind their smiles, just like Daisy.
As the night ended and families began to leave, Mr. Damon said, "Don... if you're free, bring your family over to our place sometime."
"If I have time. I’ll give you a call, Day," Mr. Donovan replied.
The next morning at the academy, Fena noticed something strange. "Hey Maria... why are all these people hovering around me today?"
"Oh," Maria explained, "it’s because of the gala. They saw Uncle Damon talking to Mr. Donovan. They think if they get close to you, they can get close to Mr. Donovan. They're just being sycophants."
As they sat down in class, a student shouted, "Today’s special snack is out... it’s Strawberry Yogurt!"
Fena’s eyes instantly lit up. "Yogurt... ❤️❤️" she murmured.
Maria laughed, "And there she is! The yogurt maniac has returned!"
