Chapter 5

Aliana was getting tired of starting over from scratch every single time. Everything began again, and she always failed.

.

.

Why couldn't she just stay in one of the cycles and be done with it? She asked herself that constantly. She had seen her husband’s death enough times already, but she also wondered: Who is she? The woman who died with my husband? She had to solve all of this, and the mystery was stressing her out even more.

.

.

It repeated every time. Every time she opened her eyes, different things happened. Nothing was exactly the same; it was like a different dimension where different events took place. But if her hypothesis was real, why did her husband die every time? No matter if she tried to save him or not, it was as if he were destined to die.

"I’m sick of this. Why does everything have to happen this way?" she said, sitting on the edge of the bed.

Carlos entered the room. "What are you talking about, love? I’ve heard you muttering to yourself for a while now," her husband said with concern.

"It’s nothing important, I was just thinking about what I’m going to do today," she replied to avoid worrying him. Suddenly, a question occurred to her.

"You have to go to work today too, right honey?" she asked, already knowing what his answer would be.

He replied casually, "Yes, I have a meeting at work today, and then a family gathering. I’m supposed to take you to the gathering, but the work meeting is going to take a long time, so you’ll have to wait here at home." He spoke calmly, checking his watch to see the time.

She noticed him looking at his watch and knew he had to leave. "You have to go, right love? You can go now; there's no need to be late for work." (Every time I return, he has to work, work, and work. What is he doing? Why does he have to work so much? Why is it always about work every time I come back?) She questioned all of this in her mind.

He will probably die like always. No matter what I do, he always dies. Can’t I just have a happy life with him? Why is life so unfair? Don’t I deserve a normal life with the love of my husband?

A mysterious voice spoke to her from within her mind. "Do you really still not realize it? I’m trying to help and you aren't cooperating. It's a shame I can't tell you directly," the voice said pitilessly.

"Who is talking to me? Are you the mysterious man who appears in my dreams? Are you the one sending me back to the past?" she asked with a trembling voice, on the verge of tears from the weight of all the questions in her head.

"Maybe?" he shrugged, suggesting it was a possibility. "And here I am wanting to help you, yet you never cooperate. I don't have much time to help you every time," the man replied calmly. He wanted to help her.

He still hasn't shown his face, always speaking to her through her mind or her dreams.

.

.

But the question remains: Is he truly the one sending Aliana back to the past? Or is he just a mysterious man helping our protagonist?

.

.

Who knows? Soon, his identity will be revealed.
