🌙 One Shot: “Don’t Look at Me Like That”
The kitchen was quiet.
Only the soft sound of oil sizzling filled the space as he stood at the stove, completely focused, one hand stirring slowly.
Sleeves rolled up.
Jaw relaxed.
Like this—this was the most normal thing about him.
And yet—
You couldn’t stop staring
Sitting on the counter, you rested your hands beside you, eyes following every small movement he made.
The way his fingers tightened around the spoon.
The way his shoulders shifted.
The way he didn’t even look at you—
But still knew.
“You’re doing it again.”
You froze.
“Doing what?” you asked, trying to sound normal.
He didn’t turn.
Didn’t even glance at you.
“Watching me like you forgot how to breathe.”
Your cheeks warmed instantly.
“I’m not—”
“Hmm.”
A quiet sound.
Doubtful.
“You always talk so much,” he added casually, stirring the pan again.
“But right now…”
A pause.
“You’ve been silent for five minutes.”
Your fingers tightened slightly on the counter.
“I’m just… sitting,” you murmured.
“And I’m just cooking.”
His tone matched yours.
Calm.
But something underneath it—
Sharp.
Then finally—
He turned his head.
Just slightly.
And the moment his eyes met yours—
Your breath caught.
There it was.
That look.
Dark.
Knowing.
Too aware.
“Come down,” he said quietly.
Your heartbeat picked up.
“Why?”
His lips curved.
Barely.
“Because I don’t like talking to you from a distance.”
Something about the way he said it—
Made it sound like a rule.
Slowly, you slid off the counter.
Your feet touched the floor.
But you didn’t move closer.
He noticed.
Of course he did.
A soft chuckle left him.
“Still pretending you’re not affected?”
You swallowed.
“I’m not pretending anything.”
“Then come here.”
This time—
There was no teasing in his voice.
Just quiet command.
Your feet moved before your mind could argue.
You stopped beside him.
Close.
But not close enough.
His hand moved without warning—
Gripping your wrist.
Pulling you just a little closer.
Your breath hitched.
“Not there,” he murmured.
“Here.”
Now your arm brushed his.
Your shoulder nearly touching his chest.
And still—
He went back to cooking.
Like this meant nothing.
“You should focus,” you whispered.
“I am.”
His thumb brushed slowly over your wrist.
Back and forth.
“Multitasking.”
Your heart raced.
“You’re distracting me,” you added softly.
A pause.
Then—
A low chuckle.
“No,” he said quietly.
“You started this.”
Your brows furrowed slightly.
“I didn’t do anything.”
“That’s exactly what you did.”
Now he turned fully.
And suddenly—
The space between you felt too small.
“You sit there,” he said slowly, “watching me like that…”
His eyes dropped to your lips.
Just for a second.
“…and expect me not to notice?”
Your breath grew uneven.
“I wasn’t doing it on purpose,” you whispered.
“That doesn’t make it better.”
His hand slid from your wrist—
To your waist.
Firm.
Steady.
Possessive.
Your body stilled instantly.
“You don’t even try,” he murmured.
“And still…”
His fingers pressed slightly against your side.
“…you make it difficult.”
Your hands instinctively touched his shirt.
Not pushing him away.
Just holding.
“You’re the one pulling me closer,” you said softly.
A smirk appeared.
“And you’re the one not stepping back.”
Silence.
The food behind him sizzled louder now.
Ignored.
“You should turn it off,” you whispered.
He didn’t move.
“Say please.”
Your breath caught.
“What?”
His eyes held yours.
Unmoving.
“If you want me to stop…”
A pause.
“…ask properly.”
Your heart pounded in your chest.
“Please,” you whispered.
He watched you for a second longer.
Then finally—
Turned off the stove.
But his hand didn’t leave your waist.
Instead—
He leaned just slightly closer.
Not touching.
But close enough to make your breath shake.
“Careful,” he murmured.
Your fingers tightened on his shirt.
“Why?”
His gaze darkened.
“Because next time…”
A slow pause.
“I might not stop at the stove.”
And the way he said it—
Calm.
Certain.
Made your heart race even faster.
Because you knew—
He wasn’t joking.
And worse—
He knew you didn’t want him to. 😌
