"Everything has a reason."
That's what people always say when they can't comprehend what is happening. That's bull for me. I don't believe shit like that. Or so I thought.
Because... Currently,
I am sitting at the hospital bed, and I saw people crying with happiness, holding my hand and looking at me, thanking me that I already woke up. Knowing I remember what happened to me before a blackout.
It was a common thing. Really, I just got bullied by my own classmate; that's all. They cut my hair and beat me, and one girl got so worked up and pushed me from the window. Ah yeah, the classroom that I was from with the bullies was on the 3rd floor.
From that fact, I knew I was dead for real. But for some reason here I am, sitting in a hospital bed with people crying happily in front of me.
Was it amnesia?..
I don't remember their faces and their names.
The doctor comes in holding some papers and a pen and starts asking, "Hi, I am Doctor Johny Sings." He introduces his name with a bright... A bright shiny baldhead and a smile. "I just want to ask if you remember your name."
I answered right away, "Uhm... Titania Reese?" Everyone around me starts looking from left to right with a confused look.
"Do you remember why you are here?" Johny asks, but I keep getting distracted by how bald his head is, like a bulb.
"I... fall." Yeah, fall from the 3rd floor. Thought I died, though.
"Here in the room except me, do you recognize their faces and their names?"
I look around until I see my reflection on the hospital window. It was as if I were in a horror movie. Or something in a thriller drama, getting so frightened as to why my reflection is another person. It's so uncanny because I felt like I saw that face before.
"W-what the fuck?!" I stand, looking to everyone and my surroundings.
The people crying start getting anxious and asking me what's wrong. Doctor Johny also tries to calm me down, but I have no choice.
I run towards the restroom and lock the door.
I felt chills from my spine as I saw my reflection in the big mirror. It's not really me?! .. My knees went weak, making me fall to the ground.
"Okay, Titania... Calm down... Let's think," I said to myself, doing some inhale-exhale sessions for 10 seconds.
I stand up again and look at my reflection, trying to remember who this reflection is.
Suddenly, gentle knocks were heard from the door, worried voices, and sobbing.
"Winter... Are you okay, honey?"
"Winter, can you open the door for us?"
Winter? Is this her name? It sounds familiar. I describe my appearances to sink it in.
I have long, shiny, straight black hair and pretty Asian eyes with a beauty mole below at the edge of my right eye; I have a good-sized chest and pretty hips, and they call me Winter.
Suddenly I remember, this must be Winter Choi from the game Mansion Massacre!
"No shit! I'm doomed!" Does this mean I'm in a horror game?! Winter was the most gruesome death scene when I played it before!
"Wait! We're fine... We know how the good ending happens," but then suddenly I look at the mirror again. "The thing is... we're not the protagonist! How can I get the good ending?!"
"Calm down, Titania! Let's make this in our hands."
Think, why are we scared?
Its's because we are in an interactive horror video game.
Then why is this game horror?
Its's because after graduation there will be a mass murder happening.
"That's it! Because there's a killer!" I said with a proud smile.
"If there's a killer, there's a jail for them." I started smirking.
"If I help the police track down the killer and the evidence, it's a win-win situation for me!"
"That's it, Titania; I'll become Winter and use the plot in my own hands." With an evil laugh and determination, I open the door and confront them.
Doctor Johny and the others were relieved as they saw me coming out from the restroom.
"I'm sorry, Doc, I was in a daze before..." I smile charmingly. "My name is Winter Choi."
I went to hug my parents now. "These are my parents, Sarah and Marcuz Choi." I glance at the cute little kid crying. "And this is my cute little brother, Zaldy Choi."
AT THE HOUSE OF THE CHOI FAMILY
Sarah and Marcuz are arguing again about who will give school allowance for this month, while Zaldy is hiding between my thighs with teary eyes.
"Mom... Dad... Stop arguing, will ya? Why don't you guys do 50-50 in our allowance then?" I carry Zaldy, trying to hush his tears.
"That's not a bad idea; at least we both know we give allowance for this month," Marcuz agreed with me.
"It's your first day of school, right? Here's extra money, and go have some fun." Sarah kissed my forehead and put some money in my pocket. Thanking me to stop their arguing.
"Mom, I'm fineeee," I said, but I actually like extra money. Zaldy giggles as Sarah kisses his forehead too.
"Zaldy, go get your bag; Mommy will drive you to day care today," Sarah said, so I put down Zaldy.
"Day care?" I ask.
"Your little brother is a smart kid; he knows how to read now, so I thought it was good to put him into day care."
"And besides, it's hard to do chores alone when your dad all he does is work and go home LATE." She raised her tone on the "late" part.
Marcuz clears his throat and back-hugs Sarah, kissing her cheeks. "I'll drive you guys to school," Marcuz offers. "Then your mom and I will go on a date after, right, baby?" Marcuz hugs her tighter.
"Geez..." Sarah pouts but looks back to him for a kiss.
My eyes... Are bleeding.
I can't get really used to it. When your parents are arguing one second and suddenly being lovey-dovey after...it's gross, but it's funny.
After 2 hours,
Dad drives last in my university; he waves goodbye to me while Mom kisses my forehead before I leave the car.
I was about to say last, "See y'all," when I saw Dad pull Mom from her passenger seat and make out in the parking lot.
So... I went straight to the gate of my university and erased what I saw.
