Well, the Mansion Massacre game theme is a school horror theme. Where main characters are students. And the main characters are...
Seon, Jun, Hyunho, and I.
As I enter the school, I don't expect that this university is so big and has lots of buildings and open fields. Kind of jealous because in my real life back when I was Titania, I never studied at a luxurious university because we couldn't afford it.
"Winter! Watch out!!" I heard some people scream my name, but when I looked back, there was a football flying towards me.
It hit me on the head, making me lose my balance. Tons of people crowded me, getting concerned, but it's not really helping; it makes me suffocate!
"Of all the places, I got hit in the entrance of the school... How welcoming," I whisper to myself, trying to stand up.
"Excuse me!" I heard a girl's voice and saw her trying to get out from the crowd towards me.
Cute round eyes, naturally curled lashes, a milk-tea shade of wavy hair, and porcelain skin. Her height is more like 5'2", small and so cute, like a little fairy.
"I happened to be around taking some medical supplies when I saw you getting hit by a football," she says in a worried tone. She helps me try to stand up, like she is helping a grandma stand.
"I am Seon Kim, the student assistant of the clinic," she introduces herself.
"I know," I whisper to myself. Everyone recognizes you; you're the ultimate healer, the campus sweetheart, and all the players play YOUR role in the game. Of course I know you; you're the protagonist of this interactive horror game.
"Mhh? Did you say something?" Seon looks at me worried.
"My head hurts a little," I said, changing the topic.
"This is no good..." Seon tiptoes and checks my head. There's a little blood, but for some reason the part where the ball hit is swelling.
"Big brother, help me!" She shouted. And with that, Hyunho opens the crowd. There he is, the protagonist's big brother and the aspiring police detective.
Hyunho Kim has a short black haircut more like every criminology guy's cut; his height is 6'3", he has refined eyebrows, and his skin is cinnamon-colored, a little different from his sister's.
Well, I guess he trains too much outside; that's why he has this toned cinnamon color.
"Seon, what happened?" he asks. His voice was low and full, as if I were listening to an ASMR boyfriend cuddles you and talks to you at night, kind of thing.
"Some football flew and hit her head. Can you help me take her with me to the clinic?"
Without question, Hyunho carries me in a bridal carry, making way to the crowd. I can feel his strong muscles holding me. This is my first time getting carried in a bridal way, and as much as I want to be rational, my heart keeps beating fast.
I see some of the NPCs. Well, I mean, schoolmates, especially girls, are grinding their teeth watching me getting carried by a hunk like Hyunho.
"I guess it's not bad for a first day," I whisper.
"Mhh?" His voice vibrates to his chest as I feel it while he is carrying me. He looks down at me, and gosh! It was a nice view!
"I said, 'Sorry for troubling you guys,'" I lied, but this time I said it much louder.
"Don't worry about it," he says. Such a cool cinnamon roll.
"Yup, and also it's my job to treat people since I'm a student assistant." Seon opens the sliding door; this must be the clinic.
Hyunho gently places me on the clinic's bed; he crosses his arms and suddenly looks at me.
"May I know your name?" he asked.
My face flushed. I'm so caught up on thinking about them and the story of the game; I forgot to introduce myself.
"I'm Titania," then suddenly I forgot I got reincarnated and was now Winter.
"That's my nickname, but my real name is Winter," Seon starts cleaning my wound when Hyunho asks again.
"I heard about your name," he starts. "You're the cheerleader who got pushed from the stairs, right? In Building D."
"Yeah." Suddenly, my memory flashes back. There's this girl crying and looking angry at me and pushing me down the stairs. This must be Winter's memories.
"I'm sorry, but can I ask? Do you remember what the reason is why that person pushed you?" Hyunho suddenly asks me, but for some reason it feels like I was in the police station.
But before I could say my answer, Seon and I saw something falling through the window. It was kind of big for a thing, so I stand up and try to look at it.
"Wait, I'm not finished treating you!" Seon and Hyunho followed me and saw something horrifying.
My knees wobble.
It can't be...
We were just talking about you.
A girl wearing a student uniform, lying on the ground, was found dead; she hit the ground so hard her skull split open, but what's more eerie is... She was the girl who pushes me from the stairs.
I don't know what's happening, but my feet drag me out to where the dead body fell. I heard Seon and Hyunho shout my name and run, following me.
"She's..."
Hyunho looks at me, holding both my arms. "Winter, do you know her?" My mouth is trembling with fear, and my knees have given out.
"I-I don't know her name, but... She's... The one..."
Seon examined the body without touching her; meanwhile, I was too scared to talk.
"Winter, look at me... Calm down."
"Tell me what you know."
I glance back at Hyunho. "She's the one that pushes me from the stairs," I answered.
"Seon, go take Winter and tell what happened to the teachers; I'll call Uncle so he can investigate this." Hyunho starts calling his uncle.
Is this happening already? The horror, the killing? Why do I have the feeling there will be more to die before the after-party happens?
Seon grabs my arms to help me stand. "Winter! Let's go! We need to tell this to the teachers."
Soon, some students who walk to the building see the dead body and get scared; the detectives and police surround the scene while teachers evacuate all the students from the building.
Eventually, all the students scheduled for that building were canceled or settled into another building. The school is still ongoing, and so is the investigation.
Meanwhile, I'm in the clinic with Seon and Hyunho.
"Winter, I need you to calm down for what I am about to say, okay?" Hyunho sits beside me.
"You might be a possible suspect, given the situation that you are connected to the victim."
"You and the victim have a past conflict, and we need as much as possible to lead to starting the case," Hyunho explains.
Seon gives me a warm chocolate drink and reassures me, "We need as many leads as possible so you can prove that you are innocent."
"Personally, I don't think it was you, Winter," Seon added.
"How can you say that?" Hyunho argues calmly. "Winter, this might hurt, but it's part of investigation being doubtful."
I sigh. "So you really consider me a suspect?" I would not be this calm if this happened to me in my past life, but given that I might know something, I am not afraid because i am innocent.
"Yes," Hyunho said, taking out his small notebook.
"No!" Seon cutely disagreed. "Winter is a friend, and I know she wouldn't do that as revenge."
"Well'll see about that; that's why we are questioning her," he said.
"Big brother, Winter might think you are just being nosy. At least give her context!" Seon pinches his cheeks.
"Right." He takes his wallet and pulls out his badge.
"I am Junior Detective Hyunho Kim," he introduces himself.
"You what?! Since when did you become a detective?" I was so shocked; maybe I didn't read his side story full well; I thought he was just... A student.
"Big brother is so talented; it's not a secret, but he wanted less attention for that," Seon smiles proudly, hugging his big brother.
"But why are you still here? You should be out in the work field now?" I asked.
Seon suddenly becomes sad while Hyunho becomes silent for a minute. "I want to finish my college first, and also I'm here to look for answers." Hyunho gives me an answer, but it's also vague; it must be a personal reason, so I won't ask more about it.
"My uncle is an inspector, and he might help us to finish this case faster. So help me out," he said.
It was as if we were going fast for a normal plot.
I plan to team up with the police anyways in order to catch the killer bear.
"Okay, I'll tell you what happened before she pushed me from the stairs."
