The next morning didn’t arrive gently.
Sienna opened her eyes slowly, feeling that brief, uncomfortable confusion of not recognizing where she was. The ceiling was different, the walls too clean… too ordered… too unfamiliar. And then it all came back to her: the contract, the signature, the decision that had no way back… the one she couldn’t escape.
She sat up slowly, running a hand through her hair as she exhaled, forcing herself to regain control before someone else did it for her.
“Lovely way to start the day…” she murmured, more to herself than anyone else.
“I’ve seen worse places than this.”
Elias’s voice made her turn her head immediately. He was leaning against the doorframe, fully dressed, flawless as always, as if he hadn’t slept at all… or simply didn’t need to.
Sienna watched him in silence for a few seconds before getting up completely.
“I hope you’re not expecting this to become comfortable,” she said, walking across the room without looking directly at him.
“I don’t care whether it’s comfortable or not,” he replied calmly. “I care that it works… perfectly.”
That made her smile slightly, as if they understood each other more than they should.
“Of course… everything with you is functional, isn’t it?”
“It’s all that matters.”
Sienna let out a soft, humorless laugh before finally looking at him.
“I expected something more extravagant… for someone like you. Something that matches your ‘caliber.’”
Elias shook his head slightly, a calm, almost provoking smile forming.
“I don’t like unnecessary luxuries…”
“But you do enjoy destroying entire empires… savoring their downfall,” she replied coldly. “Interesting balance you’ve got.”
Elias didn’t react, but his eyes stayed fixed on her with unsettling intensity.
“Come… follow me,” he said at last.
It wasn’t an invitation. But it wasn’t exactly an order either.
Sienna noticed… and followed him anyway.
The place was spacious, elegant, but not excessive. Everything was calculated, every detail chosen with precision—no excess, no noise.
Too much control.
“This isn’t a house…” she murmured as they walked. “It’s a strategy.”
“Everything you see is.”
They reached a large room.
And there they were.
Two men sat there, tense, uneasy… waiting for something they clearly didn’t want to face. Sienna recognized them instantly—the same ones who had abandoned her.
“Well…” she said quietly, crossing her arms. “Now this is interesting.”
Elias said nothing. He just watched her, with a quiet, almost curious attention. Waiting—as always—for her to make the first move.
“What are they doing here?” she asked, even though she already knew the answer.
“That depends on you,” he replied, stepping closer, his voice lowering slightly.
Sienna slowly turned her head toward him.
She understood.
This wasn’t random.
It was a test.
A power game.
And she wasn’t about to back down.
She stepped forward.
The men stood up immediately.
“Miss Smith, it’s been a while… we can explain—”
“No,” she cut them off firmly. “You can’t. And there’s no need.”
Silence fell like a blow.
“You made your decision,” she continued, not breaking eye contact. “Now I’m making mine.”
One of them stepped forward.
“It was business, nothing personal—”
Sienna smiled faintly.
“That makes it worse.”
She turned slightly toward Elias.
“Fire them.”
Elias didn’t move.
“You do it.”
That tensed her.
Just for a second.
Then… she smiled.
“Perfect.”
She turned back to the men, this time without a trace of doubt.
“You’re out,” she said. “No agreements, no return… and my name stays far away from your decisions from now on.”
“You can’t do that… who gives you that power—?”
“I already did,” she replied calmly. “And I give myself that power.”
Elias raised his hand slightly.
“You heard her.”
Security entered without a sound.
They were taken out.
“This isn’t over, Mr. Valli… remember us—”
The door shut.
Sienna didn’t move. Didn’t hesitate. Didn’t look back.
Silence filled the room again.
“You learn fast… even if your decisions have consequences,” Elias said.
“I don’t learn,” she replied. “I act.”
He liked that.
It showed.
He looked at her like he was seeing a reflection of himself.
The next morning, the smell was the first thing that woke her.
Sienna raised an eyebrow as she stepped out of the room, following the unexpected scent into the kitchen… and then stopped.
Elias was there.
Cooking.
As if any of this was normal.
“What are you doing?” she asked, clearly confused.
“Breakfast,” he replied without looking at her.
“That’s not your place—”
“And it is yours?”
Sienna crossed her arms, leaning lightly against the frame.
“I’m not here for this.”
Elias set everything down and finally turned toward her.
“You’re not here by choice,” he said calmly. “You’re here because you signed my contract.”
That shifted the atmosphere.
It became heavier.
More dangerous.
Sienna stepped closer. One step. Then another.
“That doesn’t mean you get to control everything.”
Elias didn’t move.
“That’s exactly what it means.”
Silence stretched.
The air tightened.
Sienna stood in front of him, close enough to feel his breath.
“You’re not going to control me like I’m an object,” she whispered.
Elias turned his head slightly toward her.
“I already am.”
That was enough.
Sienna grabbed him by the collar and kissed him.
No warning.
No softness.
No permission.
It was a challenge.
A declaration of war.
A silent you won’t win.
Elias didn’t pull away.
He accepted the challenge…
but he didn’t give in.
When they parted, Sienna looked at him directly.
“This doesn’t make you the owner of anything… you’re just another man among many,” she whispered. “And that’s not a good thing, Mr. Valli.”
Elias held her gaze for a few seconds and gave a slight smile.
“No… but keep something in mind…”
His voice dropped slightly.
“I’m not ‘just another man.’”
Sienna took a step back.
“Not as much as you think.”
“We’ll see.”
The air remained charged, heavy, filled with something neither of them wanted to name.
This was no longer a threat.
It was a war.
And it had only just begun.
