Chapter 2 — First Reader… and First Shock

Breakfast ended in silence.

The Qin family quickly finished eating and left one by one, as if they didn’t want to stay at the same table for too long.

Soon, only two people remained.

Qin Yue… and Qin Yuan.

It was summer vacation.

Qin Yuan had just finished his college entrance exams. Normally, he would be out having fun with his friends every day.

But today…

He didn’t feel like going anywhere.

Qin Yue’s words at breakfast kept echoing in his mind.

“I’ll be writing novels.”

He almost laughed again just thinking about it.

The rest of the family didn’t take her seriously. To them, it was just childish nonsense.

But Qin Yuan was different.

He had to see it for himself.

“What kind of garbage can she even write?” he muttered.

A smirk appeared on his face.

He was already imagining how he would mock her later.

He picked up his phone and opened a browser.

“Scream Literature City… or whatever it’s called…”

He typed randomly until the website finally appeared.

Then he searched for the pen name.

White Water Sage.

Very quickly, he found it.

A brand-new novel.

Only one chapter.

Title:

“Diary of the Elite.”

Qin Yuan snorted.

“So she’s already trying to show off?”

He clicked in, ready to criticize every single line.

The first sentence appeared on the screen.

I am Qin Yue.

My life sounds like a bad drama.

The Qin family lost their real daughter twenty-two years ago… and that daughter is me.

Qin Yuan froze for a second.

Then frowned.

He kept reading.

When I first heard the truth, I couldn’t understand it.

How could such a powerful family not know for twenty-two years… and suddenly find out now?

But that’s not important.

What matters is—

They decided to keep both daughters.

And no one even thought of telling my adoptive parents… who are already dead.

Qin Yuan: “……”

He didn’t even know where to start mocking.

He forced himself to keep reading.

The Qin family is very rich.

Their garden alone is bigger than all the farmland I used to see.

Strangely… when I was young, walking in the fields made me tired.

But now, in such a big place… I don’t feel tired at all.

Maybe I really don’t belong here.

Qin Yuan frowned slightly.

For some reason… that line felt strange.

The story continued.

My mother is beautiful.

Even at her age, she looks elegant.

She smiles gently…

Just not at me.

My father is also impressive.

Tall, handsome, successful.

Very different from the men I used to meet.

My older brother rarely talks to me.

The most he has ever said is—

“You’re sick. Your mind isn’t clear.”

Qin Yuan’s expression stiffened a little.

Then there’s Lina.

The girl who took my place.

She’s fair, gentle, and looks perfect in everything she wears.

The first time I saw her, she wore a light blue dress.

I couldn’t stop looking at it.

She noticed… and said she could give it to me.

Qin Yuan’s eyes narrowed.

I said no.

But she insisted.

She told me that blue would suit me.

So I believed her.

But when I wore it…

Everyone looked at me with strange expressions.

No one said anything.

But those looks… were worse than words.

Qin Yuan’s face darkened.

“That’s not how it happened…”

He clearly remembered—

Wasn’t it Qin Yue who insisted on wanting the same dress?

“She’s lying!”

Anger rose in his chest.

He almost threw his phone down.

But…

He kept reading.

Those three months felt very long.

Before coming here, I was always busy working.

I didn’t have time to think.

But here…

Time moves slowly.

Too slowly.

The story then shifted to the banquet.

The same one from last night.

Qin Yuan read quickly now, his face full of disdain.

“To think she calls this writing…”

Finally, he scrolled down to the comment section.

A mocking smile appeared.

Time to leave a review.

He typed:

“What is this nonsense? Terrible writing, boring plot—complete garbage!”

Then pressed send.

But instead of appearing…

A message popped up:

“Your comment is under review.”

Qin Yuan: “???”

“What kind of stupid website is this?!”

If Qin Yue couldn’t see his comment…

What was the point?!

He frowned and quickly opened his chat group.

Foodie Fanatics

[Qin Yuan: I left a comment on a novel, but it’s not showing. Why?]

The group went quiet for a second.

[Qian Kun: Did you get hacked?]

[Su Nuanuan: Send a voice message.]

Qin Yuan clicked his tongue and sent one.

[Su Nuanuan: Yep, that’s him.]

[Qian Kun: Since when do you read novels?]

[Qin Yuan: Stop talking nonsense. Just answer.]

[Su Nuanuan: Did you top up your account?]

[Qian Kun: Capitalism wins again.]

Qin Yuan frowned.

“I don’t want to spend money. Is there another way?”

[Su Nuanuan: Then wait for review.]

[Qin Yuan: I want the author to see it now.]

He wanted Qin Yue to feel embarrassed immediately.

After a pause—

[Su Nuanuan: Then use my account. I’m VIP. Comments show instantly.]

Qin Yuan’s eyes lit up.

“Good. Help me post one.”

[Su Nuanuan: Send me the details.]

[Qin Yuan: White Water Sage. ‘Diary of the Elite.’ Just write: ‘This is trash.’]

[Su Nuanuan: Got it.]

Qin Yuan put down his phone, satisfied.

He glanced upstairs.

A cold smile appeared.

“Let’s see how long you can keep pretending…”

Meanwhile…

Su Nuanuan opened the novel out of curiosity.

Only one chapter.

No bookmarks.

Almost no comments.

“So this is what he’s so worked up about?”

She clicked into the story.

At first, she didn’t care much.

Stories about real and fake daughters were everywhere.

She had read too many already.

But as she read…

Her expression slowly changed.

“This… feels real.”

The tone wasn’t like fiction.

It felt like someone telling the truth.

And soon, she realized something shocking—

This was clearly written from Qin Yue’s perspective.

“She’s exposing her own family?!”

Su Nuanuan’s eyes widened.

She kept reading, more and more interested.

Until—

She reached the last part.

After getting into the car, I looked back.

Near the flower bed, a man in a suit was smoking.

Beside him… was a little boy.

Five or six years old.

The boy hugged his leg and called him—

“Dad.”

Su Nuanuan froze.

Her fingers tightened around her phone.

That man…

Was from the Su family.

And that description…

“That’s my dad…” she whispered.

Her heart skipped a beat.

“…Does he have another child?” 😨🔥
