Chapter 4 — The First Hook

After breakfast, Qin Yue went back to her room.

She sat cross-legged on the bed and began to meditate.

She didn’t care about her novel’s performance at all.

But the system did.

After holding back for a long time, it finally asked,

“Do you want to check your story’s stats?”

“No,” Qin Yue replied calmly.

System: “……”

It had been ready to report the terrible results—

Zero readers.

Zero bookmarks.

Zero comments.

But just then…

It detected something.

“There’s a comment!” the system shouted excitedly.

“Too bad we can’t see it yet—it’s still under review!”

“Oh,” Qin Yue responded lightly.

“Go check your author's dashboard!” the system urged.

Qin Yue didn’t move at first.

Last night, when she wrote that chapter…

She wasn’t trying to gain readers.

She was setting a trap.

At the banquet, she had clearly seen something others couldn’t.

That little boy beside Victor Su.

No one else noticed him.

Because he wasn’t… alive.

That was why she wrote that scene into her story.

If everything went as she expected—

Someone would come.

Qin Yuan loved mocking her.

And Qin Yuan knew Su Nuanuan.

So there was a high chance…

That girl would read it.

Of course, Qin Yue wasn’t certain.

It was just a guess.

But that didn’t matter.

She had thrown out the bait.

Whether anyone took it…

Didn’t concern her.

Meanwhile, the system was far more anxious than her.

Unable to wait any longer, Qin Yue finally opened the author dashboard.

The comment had been approved.

The system read it eagerly—

Then froze.

“This… this is too much!” it exploded in anger.

“How dare they say something like this?!”

Qin Yue glanced at it calmly.

No reaction.

The comment was harsh.

Calling her story trash.

Mocking everything.

But to her…

It didn’t matter.

“I’m going to track their IP!” the system raged.

“I’ll find out who this is!”

“That’s illegal,” Qin Yue said lightly.

The system went silent.

Then muttered,

“Even if they don’t like it… they don’t have to insult it like this…”

Qin Yue closed the page.

“Once you post something publicly, anyone can comment,” she said.

“If it crosses the line, report it.”

“If not… ignore it.”

System: “……”

For a moment, it felt worried.

Can someone this calm really write a satisfying revenge story?

Qin Yue didn’t care.

She closed her laptop…

And continued meditating.

Time passed slowly.

Meanwhile, downstairs—

Qin Yuan was starting to panic.

He had just received a message from Su Nuanuan.

Her father…

Was coming over.

Qin Yuan immediately realized something was wrong.

No matter how careless he usually acted…

He knew this was serious.

If a big figure like Victor Su came to visit—

And only he was home?

That would be disrespectful.

He quickly called Qin Rong.

“Dad, Uncle Su is coming to our house!”

Qin Rong was stunned.

The Qin and Su families weren’t close.

So why would he suddenly visit?

When he heard the reason—

His expression darkened.

“Qin Yue again…”

At first, when they found their real daughter…

He had felt a little guilty.

But after she returned—

Causing trouble again and again—

That guilt disappeared.

In his eyes, reputation was everything.

And Qin Yue?

She only embarrassed the family.

This time…

She had even provoked Victor Su.

Unacceptable.

“It’s time to teach her a lesson,” he said coldly.

Just then, Qin Yuan sent him a link.

Qin Yue’s novel.

Qin Rong opened it immediately.

At first, he read with a frown.

Then slowly…

He became focused.

When he read about her adoptive parents…

He paused.

When he read about his wife…

His expression softened slightly.

When he read about himself being handsome…

He unconsciously relaxed.

But when he saw the part about strange men looking at her—

His face darkened.

Who dared to do that?

Then he read about his eldest son.

Calling her “not very smart.”

Qin Rong frowned.

That was too much…

No matter what—

She was still his daughter.

As for the girls fighting over clothes—

He ignored it.

But suddenly—

He noticed something strange.

“Why isn’t Qin Yuan mentioned?”

He kept reading.

Completely absorbed now.

For the first time…

He felt like he was seeing his daughter’s thoughts clearly.

It was… unfamiliar.

But interesting.

Then—

He reached the final part.

His expression changed instantly.

“She’s gone too far!”

Even if Victor Su had secrets—

What right did she have to write about it?!

“She really has no sense!” he muttered angrily.

The car sped up.

Soon, it entered the villa.

Even before getting out—

Qin Rong saw another car parked outside.

The Su family’s car.

His expression turned serious.

He adjusted his suit and walked inside.

But when he entered the living room—

He froze.

Only Qin Yuan was there.

“Where is Mr. Su?” he asked.

Qin Yuan pointed upstairs.

“I don’t know… he went straight up to find Qin Yue.”

Father and son exchanged a look.

Both felt something was wrong.

Upstairs.

In the reception room.

Qin Yue sat calmly on the sofa.

Wearing simple beige clothes.

Holding a cup of tea.

Her movements were slow and elegant.

Across from her—

Su Nuanuan quietly observed her.

The last time she saw Qin Yue…

She looked thin, dark, and uneasy.

But now—

She was completely different.

Her skin was fair.

Her expression calm.

Her presence… distant.

Even her beauty seemed sharper.

More refined than Lina Qin’s.

“Did you come to see me?” Qin Yue asked calmly.

Only then did Victor Su realize—

He had rushed here too impulsively.

He didn’t know how to start.

So Su Nuanuan spoke first.

“Sister Qin Yue… did you write Diary of the Elite?”

“Yes.”

“The last part… about my dad…”

“Was that real?”

“Yes.”

The answer came without hesitation.

Su Nuanuan’s heart tightened.

Victor Su couldn’t hold back anymore.

“Miss Qin…”

“Can you describe that child?”

His voice trembled slightly.

Qin Yue looked at him.

Then spoke slowly.

“Black cotton pants.”

“On the left knee… a cartoon print.”

“White shoes.”

“With rainbow stripes.”

Victor Hale’s hands began to shake.

“Anything else?” he asked urgently.

“A mole.”

“On his right ear.”

Silence.

Then suddenly—

Victor Su broke down.

“It’s him…”

“It’s really him…”

His voice shook violently.

“He called me ‘Dad’…?”

He covered his face and cried.

Su Nuanuan stood frozen.

She didn’t understand anything anymore.

What was going on?

Meanwhile, Qin Yue sat calmly.

As if she had seen this many times before.

After a while, Victor Su finally calmed down.

“I’m sorry,” he said hoarsely.

“I lost control.”

Qin Yue nodded.

“It’s natural.”

He took a deep breath.

Then looked at her seriously.

“Miss Qin…”

“Since you can see him…”

“Can you help me?”

“I’m willing to pay anything.”

Su Nuanuan blinked in confusion.

Help? Pay?

What is happening right now?

Even the system whispered,

“What does he mean?”

Qin Yue smiled faintly.

She lifted her teacup.

Then said calmly—

“I’m sorry, Mr. Hale.”

“I’m just a writer.” 🔥
