Chapter 5

Sasuke's Pov:

Finally, I have gained passage through that Chester's hall, the so called labyrinth of opposites. This kid really is powerful. If only I could get his power for myself, but that is impossible. I would have to be part bad and part good. Ugh! If only.

But I don't understand why a boy with such power as great as this would succumb to my wishes, when he can easily kill us off. Or better still, why would a powerful ancient lord sacrifice himself for a mere keeper. I glance at the boy, thinking of all the possible reasons and none making sense.

"He's the most precious thing in the world to me." The lord of yin and yang read my thoughts. But what does he mean?

"I cannot explain it; it's just how I feel. The need and want to protect him is what I cherish every day of my life." This boy is not making any sense. If not that I've seen his power, I swear I would deem him a fake.

"Love." What?

"That's what it's called...Love." Hn! Who knew that such a powerful lord could be so sentimental?

"Have you ever felt that way?" Tsk! As if! Only fools waste their time pursuing such futile things.

"Probably not then." When are we to get to the edge of this stupid maze? We've been walking for stupid whole hours.

"We're here." Finally!

Kakashi's Pov:

We're finally here. The lord prince must be so excited even if he doesn't show it. Hmm! I wish it had taken longer. I was finding the conversation between the two lords quite interesting, so unfortunate it had to come to an abrupt end. Oh well, we better get this over with.

"So, what do we do now?" I asked the young lord.

"Only few may pass through the portal." I figured as much.

"So how do we do this? How long can your portal hold?" The Lord Prince asked. I can sense he is getting impatient.

"Not long. I will merge my powers with that of the beginning magic and hold off the barrier long enough for you to cross." Wait! So that means...

"Yes lord Kakashi, I must become one with the barrier to create a passage for you to go through." Saving the lord Prince at such a high price. If you asked me, I would say let the traitor die. He is in cohort with a criminal after all. I knew his taste for power was great, but I never suspected he would betray us like this. I thought his loyalty to the kingdom surpasses his bloody taste for power. But why does he need to sacrifice so much for this quest. He is already a very powerful lord, why does he need more power. Could it be? No it couldn't! He must have forgotten about it by now. But still... could it be that he still remembers? He wants power, for... REVENGE?!

"But the power will kill you. Is there no other way?" This boy doesn't have to die.

"If there was, I wouldn't be here. I have just enough power to open a portal to let you in and after that it will shut down." Wait! What? How we supposed to get back?

"In 6months time, my body will be able to recuperate enough to give it one last shot." 6 months? Yes, 6 months. That should give me enough time to think up a plan to stop whatever that rogue lord Orichimaru and the lord prince are planning.

"Are you ready?" Here it goes!

"Wait!" We turn to look at the lord prince as he steps a bit closer to the younger/older lord. This is a bit confusing. He grabs a hold of our prisoner, the keeper. What is he up to now?

"We're taking him with us to guarantee your loyalty." What a sneaky bastard!

"You are going undercover, how are you supposed to do that with a prisoner, and a wounded one at that?" The smarts! Sorry kid, but I'm with the lord prince on this one. We have to ensure that we get back. I have to ensure that I get back to stop the lord prince's plan. Whatever it is!

"He's going with us and that's final." He doesn't look too happy.

"Very well then. But ensure that he comes back to me in one piece." How is it that although he's still speaking with a kid's voice, something tells me that he's no longer talking like a kid? I hate to see what happens when we return without his lover.

The lord Prince doesn't answer him and the ancient lord takes his silence for an agreement. He turns to face the barrier, and then slowly walks towards it, reaching for the force field which had held up on its own for millenniums. A gluey substance slowly rapped itself around his arm, pulling him in. The young boy remained unmoving, taking no action against the invading crawl. He let himself be pulled in until he was totally immersed in the barrier.

We watched as the beginning magic absorbed him completely, the intensity of the barrier increasing and I could feel its power growing, like it was feeding on something. Suddenly, a bright light flashed and the barrier itself seemed to rumble at the interference. Next, a wobbling sound was heard like the sound the water makes when a fish is about to poke its head out of the water. A watery gateway appeared and I'm guessing that is the portal. But how do we know it's safe and we won't disintegrate once we make any attempt to cross it. This is beginning magic after all; it's supposed to be an impossible nut to crack. As the thoughts wobble, the lord Prince walks to the portal and puts his hand through first and the liquid whatever swallowed up his hand. Bringing it back, he looked back at me and the lord general, signaling us to follow, he walked through the portal dragging along our still unconscious prisoner. The lord general in turn signals me to follow suit and joined him. Huh! I better go to keep an eye on things.

MEANWHILE

In a secluded place, a beautiful flowing stream sparkled in all its brightness, the glistening sun reflecting itself upon the waters. In plain sight, 5 figures could be seen relaxing in the calm environment. Among them, a lord prince was wishing the conversation was going another way.

Naruto's Pov:

"So what did you say?" Kiba asked me. Kiba was one of my most trusted bodyguards. Although I kept insisting to brother that I didn't need any, I find that some have been quite useful. I and Kiba grew up together and were close friends, him being the son of a war hero. Despite this fact, he had the utmost respect for me and me, same.

"I told him the usual." I answered his question and the anticipating look on his face changed to that of disapproval.

"Oh come-on Lord Prince, for how long would you hold out?" I knew what was coming.

"You did the same when he suggested Lord Sakura and I can understand why. But this Lord Hinata we are talking about. Surely, you won't be so stupid as to reject this offer too." Very respectful Kiba.

"You haven't forgotten him, have you?"
