Chapter 4 - "The Threat Letter"

A few days passed and Katherine became more and more wary of her situation after thinking that life was back to normal now, as if everything had gone back to the beginning, but now everything was more dangerous.

She asked herself who that guy was, his name was Parker, that was all she knew why he wanted to kill her, and where did his body go if he was dead, but it does mean he's still alive, and that's maybe why these letters seemed to be directed at her, Katherine was scared, and aware, since the letter threatening her.

Today is Saturday, she will go to a reunion party at the house of one of her high school friends, so while getting ready, she will go to the supermarket to do some grocery shopping, to bake a pie.

"Yeah Amy, I'll be at your house in a minute after I put all my grocery bags in the trunk" said Katherine on the phone while carrying a few grocery bags

"Alright see you, I'll wait for you, and we'll start together" said Amanda then hung up the phone

Katherine then carefully moved her groceries because Amanda told her to buy a dozen eggs. However, as soon as she finished putting everything into the trunk, suddenly when she was about to close it and turn back, a man pointed a gun at her stomach.

"If you scream, then you're dead" said the man in wearing a mysterious mask, while threatened her with a gun

"What do you want?" ask Katherine in a shaky voice, terrified, and freezing while gripping tight her jeans

Katherine's heart was beating fast, she felt like she suddenly lost her breath, and she was breaking out in cold sweat.

"Tell me, where is he?" ask the man to Katherine seriously

"Who, what do you mean, you got the wrong person" reply Katherine in a shaky voice

"Don't lie to me, I will shoot you if you dare to lie to me" said the man pushing the gun closer to her stomach

"I really don't know who you're talking about, I swear" said Katherine gripping tight her jeans, scared to death while herself covering in a cold sweat

"JLP, tell me where he is?" ask the man staring into her eyes, very scary

"Who's JLP?" ask Katherine confused trying to grab something from her trunk that she unfortunately hasn't closed yet

"Can you stop acting like a fool, just tell me where he is, you know him" said the man showing some pictures to her

"You're his wife, you supposed to know that, you're both faking death and thought we don't know about it" said the man to her

After Katherine saw the picture, she was shocked. It turned out that the photo was of a man named Parker, and it was a photo of them at church. It turned out that the proof he referred to was this.

"I'm not his wife, he even tried to kill me, I was trying to run away too, but he threatened me" said Katherine grabbing something heavy on her trunk

"This is clear evidence that you were married in a church and had an accident in a car crash on the highway, Isn't this clear enough?" ask the man pushing the gun a little deeper into her stomach

"I don't know anything about him, I just know that his name is Parker when he said it in church." said Katherine grabbing tight a thing she grabbed from the trunk and slowly moving it

"Parker, funny, that's his last name, his full name is James Luke Parker, JLP" said the man to Katherine gave her a smirk of confusion

"Alright, I'm sorry, but I have to do this." said the man to Katherine ready to pull the trigger, but Katherine managed to take a fairly heavy screwdriver and hit the man's head hard so that he fainted, finally Katherine quickly got into her car and drove away.

When she arrived at Amanda house, she quickly ran to the front door, trembling, dizzy and scared, knocking on Amanda door.

"Kate, what happened why are you sweating, and looks exhausted, what's going on?" ask Amanda shocked seeing her best friend sat on the front door exhausted

"Let me in first, I'm just being chased by someone who is looking for his whereabouts" said Katherine her voice was cracking all her energy just drained by running away from that mysterious masked guy

After that Amanda took Katherine to the couch and gave her a glass of warm water. Amanda looked quite worried seeing Katherine like this.

"Who do you mean looking for his whereabouts?" ask Amanda curious about Katherine delayed speech

"He, the person I said who wanted to kill me in the deliberate car accident back then, that person's name is JLP" reply Katherine her hand still trembling in shock

"JLP?" Amanda said confused staring at Katherine

"James Luke Parker, that's his full name, I think he's still alive, I don't know what he did, but I'm involved, they all going to come after me, I bet" said Katherine trying to calm down

After a few hours of trying to calm down after just surviving their second death, Amanda finally made the pie herself and Katherine rested on the couch.

Night has come, and it's time for the reunion, Amanda said that she would just cancel it and eat pie with Katherine at her house tonight, but Katherine refused, she wants to go, so they did.

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" ask Amanda worried about her

"I think this reunion may be the last, so I have to go at least once, and I'll be careful." said Katherine getting ready to go

Full of worry, Amanda finally left with Katherine while smiling slightly at her.
