Potion class

After Snape’s death, Horace Slughorn returned to teach and became the Head of Slytherin House. Naturally, everyone expected Slughorn to be their instructor. However, that was not the case. Instead, a professor who looked identical to Snape in every way, face eyes and energy—except she was a woman—walked in and greeted the Ravenclaw students.

"Good day. This might be a bit sudden," she said. "I am Vergilus Verginia, and I teach Potions for Hogwarts students for all years"

She paused, looking over the class. "You have all read One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, or not?" she asked. Her piercing gaze, set against her pale face, created an indescribably tense atmosphere in the room.

The room fell entirely silent. No one answered. Everyone was quite shocked

"Don't tell me none of you have read it. What a disappointment for Ravenclaw students," Verginia muttered. "Two points from Ravenclaw."

The entire class was completely shocked.

"We’ve read it, Professor!" the whole room chimed in, terrified.

"If I mix hydrangea, yellow rose, and asphodel, what will happen?" Verginia questioned.

The classroom remained dead silent. This particular combination was nowhere to be found in One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi.

"Nothing at all will happen. It will simply produce a pleasant scent," she said. She then turned her back to the class for a brief moment. No one noticed that she was silently weeping, except for Natsu who knew everything. Soon, she turned back around to continue the lesson.

"Now, what we are going to brew today is not in your textbook, but I want you all to know it," she said. "Alright, prepare your cauldrons. Add peppermint leaves and frosted grass, pour in a little water, and bring it to a boil."

The final results were yet to show.

"Add the mistwood now," she instructed.

Nothing happened in most of the students' cauldrons. Only four or five students successfully produced the intended result: a thick, grey fog that rolled out and completely obscured everyone's vision.

The Next Day's Lesson

The following day brought another Potions class.

"What will happen if I mix the two plants shown in these pictures?" Verginia asked.

Once again, the room was dead silent.

"These are lily of the valley and black rose. Can any of you answer now?!" She said coldly.

Still, the class remained silent in shock. Will the answer be the same?

"Nothing will happen," she said. She turned away and tears streamed down her face once again before she turned back to scold them.

"Look at this! It’s just like yesterday. How did the Sorting Hat ever put you children in Ravenclaw? Another two points from Ravenclaw." Verginia was furious, but she sighed and continued teaching with a cold, detached demeanor.

After the class ended, Verginia leaned in and whispered to Natsu.

"If a letter arrives for you today, make sure you're ready to receive it."

Natsu didn't actually think it would happen. Since it was only her first day, she still found it difficult to fully trust anyone. After school, she returned to the dormitory as normal, not knowing that a letter that would change her life would come.
