CHAPTER 2 — “THE ROOM FEELS DIFFERENT”

Morning classes moved slowly.

The teacher’s voice blended into the sound of pages turning and pens scratching against paper.

Most students had already settled into routine.

But the classroom still felt slightly off.

Ren Akihara

Ren rested his chin on his hand, staring lazily toward the window.

“…This class is trying to kill me.”

Beside him—

Aiko Mizuno

“You say that every lesson.”

“Because every lesson feels personal.”

Aiko sighed softly without looking up from her notes.

Appearance:

Long black hair tied neatly behind her shoulders

Soft brown eyes that always looked focused

Slim build and composed posture

Uniform perfectly adjusted without a wrinkle

Outfit:

White fitted school shirt

Dark academy blazer

Straight tie, properly fixed

Black skirt and dark knee socks

Everything about her looked organized

“You should try listening for once,” she said calmly.

Ren leaned back further.

“I am listening.”

“You’re staring out the window.”

“I’m listening spiritually.”

Aiko slowly closed her notebook.

“…I regret knowing you.”

Ren grinned.

“That hurts.”

But he still looked relaxed.

Like nothing in the world could seriously bother him.

Then the classroom shifted again.

Quietly.

Subtly.

Like attention moved without warning.

Hana Kurose

Near the window, Hana sat alone.

Appearance:

Long dark brown hair falling neatly over her shoulders

Pale skin and calm facial features

Dark eyes that rarely revealed emotion

Elegant posture without trying to appear elegant

Outfit:

Academy blazer worn perfectly

White shirt clean and neat

Black skirt aligned carefully

Dark stockings and polished shoes

Minimal accessories, no unnecessary decoration

She wrote in silence.

No wasted movement.

No reaction to the whispers around her.

Students glanced at her constantly.

Some curious.

Some cautious.

Some intimidated without understanding why.

Ren noticed it too.

“…People are really staring at her.”

Aiko’s eyes shifted briefly toward Hana.

“…Because she doesn’t react.”

“Huh?”

“People don’t know what to do with someone they can’t read.”

Ren looked confused for a moment.

Then shrugged.

“She just seems quiet.”

Aiko looked at him flatly.

“You think everyone is simple.”

“Most people are.”

“No,” she replied calmly. “You’re just bad at noticing.”

At the back corner of the room—

Kairo Velis

Kairo sat with his head resting lightly against one hand.

Appearance:

Dark silver hair with slightly messy strands

Pale skin with soft, composed features

Gray eyes that looked calm but emotionally distant

Relaxed posture that somehow still looked controlled

Outfit:

Uniform neat but slightly loosened intentionally

Tie relaxed perfectly—not messy, not strict

Blazer unbuttoned slightly

Sleeves adjusted casually

He looked half-asleep.

But his eyes noticed everything.

A group nearby laughed about something.

Kairo smiled lightly in response.

Perfect timing.

Perfect expression.

Perfect warmth.

Completely artificial.

Nobody could tell.

Because his imitation of emotion was flawless.

His gaze shifted briefly toward Ren.

Then Hana.

Then away.

No attachment.

No curiosity.

Just awareness.

The bell rang.

And the strange feeling in the room stayed.

"so how do you like the book so far, I know it's kinda boring but hold on yh"
