There was a loud groan, followed by a curse at a single person apartment in the middle of the night.

Galen woke up feeling so much pain, like his skull was about to be crushed into powder.

The pain was even worse than the worst hangover he had in his college days, when he drank for the first and last time.

Fusing with a Godking's soul – even if it was just a tiny fragment, and getting infused with millions of years memories was definitely not a pleasant experience.

The only silver lining was that, since both fragments were originally the parts of a single soul, there were no side effects in their fusion apart from the intense pain.

Galen sat on the floor clutching his head, while trying to sort out his past life's memories. That's about the only thing he could now in this situation, to somewhat alleviate the pain.

But the moment he opened his eyes and remembered those cowardly gods and their betrayal, his fury erupted like a volcano, causing the whole earth to tremble slightly.

Assessing his body with his soul strength and seeing his skinny frame that has been completed filled up with toned muscles, stretching his current clothing, Galen whistled in admiration – feeling like he had been reborn.

Mumbling to himself he took out his mobile from under the bed, to check the date and found himself at a loss for words.

First due to the date, and second due to the long list of notifications piled up in his smartphone.

"Damn !!! It's been 31 days ???"

"The last day was spent in mediation. So, I've been unconscious for 30 days huh..."

' How is my phone still active after a month you ask? It's ause I plugged it in for charging just before going to celebrating my birthday and falling unconscious right after. '

Just then he heard a knock on his apartment door followed by a gruff male voice,

"Mr. Galen, your last month's rent is overdue for 4 days. I'm only informing you this late because of the respect I have for you. Please don't lose it and pay the rent by today evening",

saying that he left, without even waiting for a reply...

Looking up at the ceiling, Galen cursed again.

After sometime, Galen finally stood up with a grumbling stomach, that wasn't fed with anything for so long.

His body functions were being maintained by the system during the period of his unconsciousness. That's the reason he was still alive and kicking.

He also hadn't cleaned himself properly in a while. While he didn't stink real bad because of it, he still felt a lot uncomfortable at the mere thought.

So first, Galen made a straight beeline towards his toilet and emptied his bowels, followed by a long nice bath lasting almost an hour.

Putting on a hooded t-shirt with baggy pants to his hide his transformed physique from the neighbours, he went to a restaurant on the other side of the street – to fill his stomach.

Inside the restaurant, sitting on a comfortable corner with a view through the window, Galen called one of the waiters.

After getting the order, the waiter looked at him with a strange expression as he had ordered food that was more than 5 times his usual orders.

But as a professional, he didn't say anything. He just went back and brought everything he ordered, lining them up neatly on the table.

As Galen started eating, his appetite far surpassed his own expectations.

Only after eating almost double the amount of food he had initially ordered did he finally feel full.

"Burp..."

Letting out a satisfied burp, he paid the bill and left the restaurant with a toothpick in his mouth, leaving the restaurant workers with their mouth agape in shock.

Returning back to his apartment, he first paid his due rent, to not get an earful from the aggressive landlord and started going through his plans for the future.

The moment he did, with blaring fireworks, and weird clinking and rotating sounds akin to that of multiple gears turning in his head, a holographic interface materialised before his eyes.

Only this time, instead of the usual blue colour, he was met with a golden coloured screen.
