Rain poured heavily outside the hospital windows.
Seraphina sat quietly beside her father’s room, her hands trembling while replaying everything that happened at the wedding.
Adrian’s betrayal.
Vivienne’s apology.
The humiliation.
It felt unreal.
Her phone suddenly buzzed.
Unknown Number.
She hesitated before answering.
“…Hello?”
“Did you cry enough already?”
Her expression darkened immediately.
That voice.
Cold. Calm. Dangerous.
Damian De Luca.
“What do you want?” she asked sharply.
“To help you.”
“I don’t need help from a mafia monster.”
A soft chuckle came from the other line.
“And yet you’re alone.”
Silence.
Because he was right.
Her company was collapsing.
Her father was unconscious.
And the entire city was laughing at her.
“Meet me,” Damian said. “Ten minutes.”
Before she could answer, the call ended.
———
A black luxury car waited outside the hospital.
Seraphina stared at it for a moment before slowly getting inside.
The interior smelled expensive and cold.
Damian sat beside the window wearing a black suit, his sharp eyes focused on the city lights outside.
He looked terrifyingly calm.
“You enjoy controlling people?” Seraphina asked bitterly.
Damian glanced at her.
“No. I enjoy watching what people do when they lose everything.”
Seraphina clenched her fists.
“What makes you think I’ll trust you?”
Damian handed her a folder.
Inside were documents.
Photos.
Bank transfers.
Contracts.
Proof that Adrian secretly stole money from her family company months ago.
Her breathing stopped.
“He planned this…” she whispered.
Damian leaned back lazily.
“Adrian Cross is ambitious. Betraying you was profitable.”
Seraphina’s eyes burned with anger.
“And Vivienne?”
Damian smirked faintly.
“She was the bonus.”
Seraphina looked away, trying not to cry again.
Weakness disgusted her now.
The car finally stopped in front of a massive penthouse building.
Damian stepped out first.
“Come.”
She followed him upstairs silently.
The penthouse was dark, elegant, and intimidating—just like him.
City lights reflected across the glass walls.
Damian poured himself a drink before facing her.
“You want revenge,” he said directly.
Seraphina crossed her arms.
“And what do you get from this?”
“You.”
Her eyes narrowed immediately.
“What?”
Damian walked closer slowly.
“Marry me for one year.”
Seraphina stared at him like he was insane.
“You seriously think I’d marry another man after tonight?”
“You need protection,” Damian replied calmly. “Adrian won’t stop until your family is destroyed.”
“And why would a mafia heir care about me?”
For the first time, Damian’s expression darkened slightly.
“Because Adrian Cross is my enemy too.”
Silence filled the room.
Seraphina looked at the marriage contract again.
One year.
Fake marriage.
Revenge.
It sounded dangerous.
Crazy.
But she had nothing left to lose.
Damian stepped closer and lowered his voice.
“Stay weak and they’ll bury you.”
His dark eyes locked onto hers.
“Or stand beside me… and make them regret betraying you.”
Seraphina’s heart pounded.
This man wasn’t safe.
He was the devil offering her power.
And somehow…
She wanted it.
Slowly, she picked up the pen.
Damian watched her carefully.
“Once you sign,” he warned, “your life changes forever.”
Seraphina looked directly into his eyes.
“My life already did.”
Then she signed the contract.
Damian smiled faintly for the first time.
Not warm.
Not kind.
Dangerous.
“Good choice, Mrs. De Luca.”
And somewhere far away—
The storm only grew stronger.
