Prague. 2 AM.
Naruto’s phone vibrated again.
The same message.
“Logan wants to meet. Regarding Genoshan.”
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
Inside his mind, Kurama snorted. “You already gave them a way out. Why is there still work?”
“Because the work never ends,” Naruto replied softly. “One villain dies, a new one takes their place.”
He stood up, donned a black jacket, and left a brief note on the table for Hermione: “Don’t wait up for me. -N”
Warsaw. An old warehouse. 4 AM.
Logan was waiting with an unlit cigar.
He watched Naruto enter, silent as a ghost.
“You’re late,” Logan said.
“You’re in too much of a hurry to die,” Naruto countered.
Logan didn't argue this time. He tossed a file over.
“Genoshan didn't die. They changed names. Project ‘Phoenix.’ New location: Siberia.”
Naruto opened the file. Photos. Maps. A list of names.
His eyes turned cold.
“Xavier?”
Logan shook his head. “Not him. But one of his people. Someone inside the X-Men is selling info.”
Naruto closed the file.
“So this isn't about saving victims. This is about finding a traitor.”
Logan nodded. “And I need you to be silent, as usual. If the X-Men find out I called you, Charles will stop me.”
Naruto stared at him for a long moment.
“You trust that I won’t kill you after this?”
Logan gave a cynical smirk. “If you wanted to kill me, you would’ve done it three months ago.”
London. 8 AM.
Hermione received a call from an unknown number.
The voice on the other end was heavy.
“Hermione Granger. Don’t look for Naruto. He’s walked into a trap.”
The line went dead.
She reached for her laptop. Ten minutes later, she knew everything.
Project Phoenix. Siberia. The traitor’s name: S.
She stood up and grabbed her bag.
If Naruto wanted to play it quiet, she was going to play it loud.
Siberia. Underground complex. 2 days later.
Naruto entered through the water filtration system.
The place was larger than Genoshan. Cleaner. More professional.
He found the control room. Two hundred young mutants in tanks. Sleeping.
In the center of the room stood a man in a tactical uniform. Visor over his eyes.
“Scott Summers,” he said. “Or should I call you Cyclops?”
Scott turned, startled.
“Kitsune.”
“No,” Naruto said. “I’m the person you sold out.”
The fight didn't last long.
Scott was powerful, but Naruto never fought to kill. He fought to neutralize.
A kick to the knee. A strike to the neck. Scott collapsed.
Naruto hit the emergency release. The tanks hissed open.
From behind, a cold voice spoke:
“Stop.”
Logan stood at the doorway. Beside him, Charles Xavier.
Charles’s eyes were filled with disappointment.
“Naruto,” Charles said. “I know you want to save them. But you can’t do this alone.”
“Alone is faster,” Naruto replied. “And results in fewer bodies.”
Charles closed his eyes.
“If I read your mind, I will know what you plan next. And I’m not sure I’ll like it.”
Naruto gave a thin smile.
“Good. Let it keep you awake at night, too.”
London. The same night.
Hermione broke into the X-Men’s London office.
She placed a file on Charles’s desk.
Evidence of Scott’s betrayal. And evidence that Charles knew, but covered it up.
Charles opened the file. His hands trembled.
“Why are you giving this to me?”
“Because if the Wizarding World finds out, you all die,” Hermione said. “And Naruto doesn't want that to happen.”
She turned to leave.
Charles called out, “You love him, don't you?”
Hermione paused.
“He made me believe the system can be changed without killing everyone.”
“That’s dangerous,” Charles said.
“I know,” Hermione replied. “That’s why I’m following him.”
Prague. 3 AM.
Naruto returned home.
Hermione was asleep on his sofa, the Phoenix file clutched in her arms.
He sat beside her and gently pulled a blanket over her.
Kurama whispered: “You’ve fallen.”
Naruto didn’t deny it.
He whispered to the sleeping Hermione:
“This time, we change the system. Together.”
Outside, the snow fell softly.
And for the first time, the “Kitsune” felt like he had a home to return to.
