Deep Inside Enemy Territory
The forest had changed.
The air felt heavier.
Too quiet.
Too dark.
Branches cracked under their feet as YN and Kakashi moved carefully through the dense trees.
Then—
SWISH!
A blade suddenly flew toward YN.
CLANG!
She blocked it instantly.
From the shadows, multiple masked figures appeared.
One.
Three.
Five.
Ten.
YN smirked slightly.
“Tch. Finally.”
Without wasting another second, she rushed forward.
BOOM!
Her kick sent one of the masked men crashing into a tree.
On the other side, Kakashi moved just as fast, taking down enemies one after another with precise movements.
For several minutes, the battlefield turned chaotic.
Leaves flew everywhere.
Metal clashed.
Dust rose into the air.
YN spun, landing another hit.
Kakashi appeared beside her and blocked an attack aimed at her back.
“Watch your blind spot.”
“I had it.”
“No, you didn't.”
“Tch.”
But then—
More footsteps.
More shadows.
More masked figures started appearing from everywhere.
Trees.
Ground.
Above them.
YN's expression finally shifted slightly.
“…You've got to be kidding me.”
Even Kakashi narrowed his eyes.
Too many.
Way too many.
Kakashi looked toward YN.
“We're retreating.”
YN immediately glared at him.
“No.”
“YN.”
“No.”
Her eyes sharpened.
“I can still fight.”
Kakashi stared at her for a second.
Then another wave of enemies rushed toward them.
Without warning—
He grabbed her wrist.
“What the—?!”
“We’re leaving.”
“HEY! LET GO OF ME!”
Ignoring her protests completely, Kakashi pulled her away at full speed.
The masked men chased after them.
Branches snapped behind them.
Footsteps got closer.
Closer.
Closer—
Then suddenly Kakashi stopped.
YN looked forward.
And froze.
No road.
Only a massive cliff.
Far below—
A river flowed violently.
Behind them, the enemies were approaching.
YN looked at Kakashi.
“…Now what?”
Kakashi looked at the cliff.
Then at her.
Then without saying anything—
He suddenly pulled her close.
YN's eyes widened.
“WAIT— WHAT ARE YO—?!”
Before she could finish—
Kakashi wrapped an arm around her and jumped.
The wind roared around them as both of them disappeared over the edge.
The roaring sound of the violent river was the last thing she remembered before everything went pitch black.
When YN finally opened her eyes, her head throbbed with a dull ache.
The air smelled of damp earth and burning wood. She blinked against the dim light, realizing she was no longer drowning. She was lying inside a cold, dark cave.
She tried to sit up, but a sudden breeze made her shiver violently. That was when she noticed something terrifying.
Her clothes were completely gone.
The only thing covering her bare skin was a single, thick blanket wrapped around her body. Panic shot through her. She quickly scrambled backward against the cave wall, her eyes scanning the dark space.
Right in front of her, sitting calmly by a small, crackling campfire, was Kakashi.
YN froze. He was wearing nothing but his dark ninja pants. His torso was completely bare, his mask was gone too, his lean, muscular chest and shoulders glistening under the amber glow of the firelight. For a split second, YN’s mind raced to the absolute worst conclusion. Her face burned hot with a mix of shock and pure embarrassment.
"What the heck?!" YN screamed, her voice echoing loudly off the cave walls.
Kakashi didn't flinch. He slowly turned his head toward her, his dark eye narrowing slightly as he looked at her panicked state.
"Where are my clothes?!" she demanded, clutching the blanket desperately against her chest. "What happened to my clothes?!"
Kakashi sighed softly, tossing another piece of wood into the fire.
"We fell into a raging river, YN. Our clothes were completely soaked. If you stayed in those wet garments, you would have caught hypothermia."
"So you... you changed my dress?!" YN’s voice cracked, her jaw dropping.
"Did you want me to leave you like that?" Kakashi replied, his tone perfectly flat and logical.
"I didn't have much of a choice. Besides, the water ruined almost everything in our bags. All our supplies are drenched. This blanket was the only dry thing left.
And yet, when I was changing your dress, the whole cave was filled with darkness. so, Ididn’tseen anything."
YN looked down, her cheeks flushing a deep shade of pink.
Seeing her flustered expression, a small, mischievous glint appeared in Kakashi's eye. The legendary copy ninja decided he couldn't pass up the chance to tease her.
He slowly stood up. Without his vest and shirt, his presence felt overwhelming. He walked over to her side of the cave, his footsteps completely silent.
YN panicked, pulling the blanket even tighter around herself. She shrank back against the hard stone wall, her heart hammering against her ribs. As Kakashi knelt down right in front of her, she began to stutter, losing all her usual confidence.
"W-What are you doing? Why are you coming so c-close?"
Kakashi chuckled quietly, leaning in just a fraction closer. He looked down at her crimson face, thoroughly enjoying how flustered she was.
"Tell me, YN... what exactly did you think happened between us while you were unconscious?"
YN opened her mouth to snap a witty retort, but her throat went completely dry. Looking at his bare chest and the intense look in his eye made her blush deepen until her entire face felt like it was on fire.
"I— I didn't think—"
Before she could finish her sentence, Kakashi moved.
With sudden, effortless speed, he reached out and wrapped his strong arm around her waist, pulling her forward. YN gasping as she was pulled flush against his warm, bare chest. The sudden, intense proximity made her mind go entirely blank.
"W-What are you—"
Her voice died in her throat. Kakashi leaned down, cutting her off mid-sentence.
His lips met hers in a sudden, deep, and breathtaking kiss.
YN’s eyes widened in absolute shock. The warmth of his lips sent a jolt of electricity straight down her spine. Before her brain could even process what was happening, Kakashi slowly broke the kiss, pulling away just far enough to look into her stunned, wide eyes.
A smirk played on his lips behind his invisible mask.
"Now,you can actually say something happened between us."
Without waiting for her response, he stood up smoothly and walked back over to the campfire. He sat back down in his original spot, staring into the flames as if nothing had happened, leaving YN frozen, breathless, and completely stunned in the shadows.
The cave became silent again.
Only the sound of burning wood filled the air.
YN stared at the fire for a few moments before speaking.
“sensei?.”
“Hm?”
Her eyes slowly turned serious.
“…Who are they?why are they after me?”
Kakashi didn't answer immediately.
His eye remained fixed on the flames.
“Stop avoiding the question.”
A few seconds passed.
Then Kakashi finally spoke.
“…You're not normal, YN.”
YN's eyebrows slightly frowned.
“There is something inside you. A power.”
“A power people have been searching for years.”
“And that's why they are targeting you.”
YN's expression slowly became unreadable.
Kakashi lowered his eyes slightly.
“And... that's also one of the reasons your father wanted someone stronger to protect you.”
Silence.
“…Protecting me?”
YN repeated quietly.
Then she laughed.
Not a happy laugh.
A bitter one.
“So even now it's still that?”
She slowly stood up.
“Protection.”
“Duty.”
“Sensei, do you know what's funny?”
Her eyes met his.
“I thought maybe... just maybe after all this time there was another reason.”
“But I was wrong.”
Kakashi frowned slightly.
“YN, that's not what I meant.”
“No?”
Her voice became colder.
“Then what did you mean?”
No answer.
Again.
Silence.
YN looked away and clenched her fist.
“Good.”
“I asked for a divorce and maybe I made the right decision.”
She turned and started walking toward the cave entrance.
Then suddenly—
She looked down at herself.
Clicked her tongue.
“Tch.”
Without saying anything else, she walked back, picked up her clothes and turned her back toward Kakashi.
“Don't look.”
Kakashi silently looked away toward the fire.
No teasing.
No joke.
Just heavy silence between them.
