"What Was Written in the Letter"💌

Dear Zion Williamson,

If ever you read what is written in this letter, I hope you truly understand the meaning behind every word here. And if you do read this, I hope you will understand me fully, and I hope you can forgive me for all the mistakes I made in the past. This letter is meant to be my final wish, something I hope you will never forget and something I hope you will fulfill.

I am asking you a favor, hoping you will grant this one wish of mine that you must do: could you please paint a portrait of my face? I hope it will be something of great value to my people who are still living, so that they may see and gaze upon my face. This is my last request—please do this for me.

If you only knew how much I admire the skill and excellence you possess in painting; I am truly amazed by your talent. You are one of the artists I have ever known who never asks for payment. And do you know? You are the first man who ever made my heart beat faster. If you only knew, I have loved and admired you for a long time now, even though I did not show it much to you because I was quite shy and always found it hard to express myself directly.

But I could clearly see in your eyes that you had feelings for me too. You never let it be known, even when words came out of your mouth that were untrue—like every time I asked you if you had feelings for me. Yet I saw it in your eyes that you were not lying, for the eyes always reveal the truth.

If you only knew, had it not been for you, I would never have experienced such happy days just being together. Because of you, I learned how to value life and myself, and how to have trust.

Even though it hurts my heart that I could not marry you back then… it was because people said we were not suited—that I was of low birth, without any wealth, merely a servant in the palace, just a defender ready to give my life for the whole kingdom. But that is not what I wanted for us—to become strangers to each other, so that whenever we met, it would be as if we never had anything together. Because we made a promise: that in the end, it would be you and me who would be together, who would get married, and who would build a beautiful life and a happy family.

But never will I regret the thought of us being married. Because whenever I am with you, I feel safe and have nothing to fear. Everything you have done for me, I have seen and deeply cherished. So thank you for everything. In our short time together, we created beautiful memories that remain etched deep in both our hearts and minds, from those days when we were still together.
