CHAPTER 1: The invisible daughter

Hello guys this is my first time writing the novel so pls support me

Story begins

Female Lead: Lyra Ashbourne (21)

The unwanted daughter of a powerful noble house.

Treated as a curse since birth.

Quiet, intelligent, and secretly gifted with forbidden magic.

Male Lead: Kael Draven (25)

The immortal Obsidian King.

Feared by gods, demons, and mortals alike.

Cold, ruthless, and dangerously obsessed with Lyra from the moment he sees her

Aira Nakamura had mastered the art of disappearing.

Not literally.

But after nineteen years of being ignored by her own family, she had learned how to become invisible.

Invisible during dinner.

Invisible during family gatherings.

Invisible during birthdays.

Invisible even in photographs.

It was almost impressive.

Her mother never asked how her day had been.

Her father barely remembered which grade she was in.

Her older sister, Reina, was the family's shining star—a model student, beautiful, popular, talented.

Everything Aira wasn't.

At least that was what everyone constantly reminded her.

"Aira, why can't you be more like your sister?"

"Aira, stop embarrassing us."

"Aira, do you ever do anything right?"

The words had become background noise.

Aira no longer argued.

No longer cried.

No longer hoped.

Hope was dangerous.

Hope only led to disappointment.

The morning sunlight slipped through her bedroom window.

Aira opened her eyes and stared at the cracked ceiling.

Another day.

Another reminder that she didn't belong anywhere.

She sat up slowly.

The house was already noisy.

Reina's laughter echoed downstairs.

Their parents were talking happily.

Aira smiled bitterly.

Nobody had come to wake her.

Nobody ever did.

She dressed quietly and walked downstairs.

The moment she entered the kitchen, nobody looked at her.

Not one person.

It was as if she were a ghost.

Her father was reading the newspaper.

Her mother was preparing breakfast.

Reina was scrolling through her phone.

Aira sat down.

Silence.

Not a single greeting.

Not a single glance.

She poured herself some tea.

"Mom."

No response.

"Mom."

Still nothing.

Reina rolled her eyes.

"She's talking to you."

"Oh."

Her mother finally looked at her.

"What is it?"

Aira hesitated.

Today was her birthday.

Nineteen years old.

She knew nobody remembered.

But part of her wanted to believe.

Maybe this year would be different.

Maybe—

Never mind.

"It wasn't important."

Her mother nodded and returned to cooking.

Just like that.

Aira lowered her eyes.

Happy birthday to me.

She laughed softly.

The sound felt empty.

After breakfast she left for university.

The city was alive.

Crowded sidewalks.

Neon advertisements.

Cars rushing through intersections.

People laughing.

People talking.

People living.

Aira walked through all of it completely alone.

Her phone remained silent.

No birthday messages.

No calls.

No notifications.

Nothing.

Not surprising.

She didn't have many friends.

Actually, she had none.

People usually forgot she existed.

By lunchtime she found herself sitting alone beneath a cherry blossom tree near campus.

The petals danced around her.

Beautiful.

Fragile.

Temporary.

Just like happiness.

Aira opened a convenience store sandwich.

Before she could take a bite—

A shadow appeared.

Someone sat beside her.

Aira blinked.

That never happened.

Slowly she turned her head.

A young man sat there.

Black hair.

Sharp jawline.

Dark eyes.

Dangerously handsome.

He wore the university uniform.

Yet she had never seen him before.

Which was strange.

Someone like him was impossible to forget.

The young man looked directly at her.

Not through her.

Not past her.

At her.

For the first time in a very long time, someone was truly looking.

Aira felt strangely nervous.

The stranger smiled.

It wasn't a warm smile.

It wasn't friendly.

It was something else.

Something unsettling.

Something intense.

As if he had found something he had been searching for.

For a very long time.

"Finally."

Aira frowned.

"...What?"

The stranger's eyes darkened.

"I found you."

The wind suddenly felt colder.

Aira stared.

"What are you talking about?"

The boy chuckled.

A low sound.

Almost amused.

"You don't remember me."

It wasn't a question.

It was a statement.

Aira shook her head.

"Should I?"

The stranger stood up.

His gaze never left her.

For some reason, her heart started beating faster.

Not because she liked him.

Because something felt wrong.

Very wrong.

Yet she couldn't look away.

"My name is Ren."

He smiled again.

The same dangerous smile.

"The next time we meet, Aira Nakamura..."

His voice softened.

"...your life is going to change forever."

Then he walked away.

Just like that.

Leaving Aira frozen beneath the falling cherry blossoms.

She stared after him.

Confused.

Uneasy.

Curious.

She didn't know it yet.

But that brief meeting would become the beginning of a story that would destroy everything she thought she knew about herself.

And Ren Kurozawa?

He had spent years searching for her.

Years watching from the shadows.

Years waiting.

Now that he had finally found her—

He had no intention of letting her disappear again.

To be continued...
