It’s been a week since all the Debate chaos happened between Theo and Jin. And Principal Paul did took action against them by deducting bonuses from their academic scores by 10% each.
Summer break for Whitmore Academy was coming up, that means another camp will be held like always by the academy, the school will go on a trip, for about half a month or so where the students will be given chances to improve their performances by undertaking activities and learning with their assigned partners. One of the thing Theo hated the most..partners
But backing off and refusing to take part means bad academic scores and mark deductions, and he can’t let that happen if he was planning to go to law school after graduation next year.
Theo sat down as Abuela put his breakfast infront of him on the table, bacons and eggs with coffee and freshly baked pancakes with honey, just the way Theo like since he was a child.
“Mijo, you looked troubled, what’s the matter?” she asked gently taking a seat next to him.
“It’s nothing, just thinking about this year’s
summer camp. You know how much I hate it”
Abuela nodded, “But it’s not that bad, meeting new peoples and making friends isn’t something you should hate Mijo, besides you barely have any friends”
“Oliver, he’s my friend”
After the drowning incident from 5 years back, Oliver and Theo had kept in touch and became friends, Oliver still regrets lying to Jin and the rest about that incident but he had no choice.
It has been some years since Theo started going to Whitmore’s Academy, and Jin too transferred 6 months ago, they don’t speak to each other so lhis only friend was Oliver, maybe because the only one who can keep up with that attitude of his is him.
“Yeah, whatever. What I meant is, go have fun..I’m sure it won’t be that bad, besides every year you and Oliver pair up” Abuela said
Theo “hmm” and took a sip of his coffee. Maybe his Abuela was right, every year it was either sharing a room with Oliver or having his own room but this year was a bit different because
a certain someone name “Jin” happens to have transferred in Whitmore.
Theo just sighed and excepted his fate, he took a bite of his pancake and looked at his Abuela
“Are you going back to the restaurant?”
Abuela sighed, “Yeah, the chef took paternity leave so I have to fill in the vacancy”
“Abuela, you worked too hard already, don’t work overtime”
Abuela rolled her eyes, “I’m fine, don’t worry”
Theo nods once and Abuela puts more pancakes on his place, and more bacons too
”Abuela, I’m full!”
“Nonsense, eat more”
Theo sighed as his grandmother put another pancake on his plate.

...At Whitmore’s Academy ...
“Really? I thought you weren’t going”
Oliver said when Theo told him that he was coming on that summer camp next week.
“As if I had a choice” he said as he started to walk towards his class. Oliver followed catching up with him, “I mean we’ll have so much fun this year too, maybe we should try some other activities this year, how about fishing or art?”
Theo rolled his eyes, “I’m fine thanks, I prefer to do the same old boring stuffs instead”
“Come on, like what? Reading? Studying? Give yourself a break”
Theo stopped suddenly in front of the classroom’s door. Oliver sneak a glance inside and saw Jin sitting in the front, chatting with some other classmates, and laughing and chatting. That was the first real smile Theo saw after..what happened.
Jin turned too and saw Theo at the door already looking at him. Their eyes met for 0.03 seconds before Jin quickly turned away to answer a question a classmate asked him. Theo snapped out of his thoughts and walked inside, taking his usual seat at the back, 3 rows behind Jin. Oliver too took his seat next to Theo and saw Theo’s gaze fixed on Jin from behind.
Oliver sighed, “Want me to call him for you?” he said sarcastically. Theo glared at him and looked away, taking out his books.
Sure, Jin gained a lot of popularity in Whitmore the moment he stepped foot here, thanks to his friendly and calm attitude and warm nature, he gets along with everyone unlike Theo who ghost every single one who tried to become friends with him or even tried talking to him.
“Come on Jin. Partner up with me for the camp”
A girl from the class whined. Jin just gave a little
nervous smile.
Jin then turned back and saw Theo behind him, book opened infront of him but his attention however, wasn’t on the book.
Oliver waved at Jin, he smiled and waved back. Theo’s eye twitches seeing that and he ‘tsk’ and went back to flipping pages in his book.
“So…Jin’s coming to the camp too” Oliver says
“So?” Theo replied with a stern voice
“That won’t be a problem? Everyone’s scared you guys might get into another fight again”
“Well, that depends on how much we see each other”
Oliver rolls his eyes, “I feel bad for the both of you. Why don’t you just tell him that-”
Before Oliver finishes Theo snapped his head to him with an expression that says “Don’t you fucking dare finish that”.
Oliver raises both his hands in surrender and turned back to talk with a classmate. Theo
however although trying to focus on his book—
he couldn’t, his eyes were fixed on Jin, observing his every move, how me smiles every now and then talking to his friends, or how he rubs the back of his neck whenever someone asks about something personal. Nervous.
Trying to maintain his perfect image.
Theo scoffs a bit too loud, then the chatting stops and they turned back to him. Theo didn’t even react, he kept a straight face looking at Jin, who looked like he’ll come up to Theo anytime and punch him on his face.
