Balram Ha Balwan Chapter 3: The Forbidden Grove

Prologue

The days in Vraja passed peacefully.

After the incident with the wild bull, stories of Balram's incredible strength spread throughout the village.

Children admired him.

Adults respected him.

And whenever trouble appeared, everyone knew Balram would be there.

Yet beyond the cheerful fields and grazing lands of Vraja lay a place that even the bravest villagers avoided.

A mysterious forest known as the Forbidden Grove.

---

The Curious Friends

One bright morning, Krishna gathered his friends near the banks of the Yamuna.

Among them were Radha, Ayan, Sridama, Sudama, and several cowherd boys and girls.

Radha carried a basket of flowers.

Ayan carried a wooden staff and always tried to act brave.

Ayan: "I heard there are hidden treasures inside the Forbidden Grove."

Sridama: "My father says demons live there."

Radha: "Then we shouldn't go."

Krishna smiled mischievously.

Krishna: "That sounds exactly like a place worth exploring."

The children laughed.

Balram crossed his arms.

Balram: "As long as everyone stays together."

---

Warning of the Elders

Before leaving, the group passed Nanda Baba and Yashoda.

Nanda's face became serious.

Nanda Baba: "Do not enter the Forbidden Grove."

Krishna: "Why?"

Nanda Baba: "Strange things happen there. Animals disappear. Travelers hear voices in the darkness."

Even Balram noticed genuine concern in Nanda's eyes.

But curiosity had already taken hold of the children.

---

Into the Forest

By afternoon, the group reached the edge of the grove.

The cheerful sounds of Vraja faded behind them.

The trees here were ancient.

Their branches twisted like giant claws.

The sunlight barely touched the ground.

A cold wind whispered through the leaves.

Radha stepped closer to Krishna.

Radha: "This place feels different."

Krishna: "Don't worry. Brother is with us."

Balram walked ahead, alert and cautious.

---

The Strange Footprints

Deep within the grove, Ayan suddenly stopped.

Ayan: "Look!"

On the ground were enormous footprints.

Far larger than any human's.

The marks sank deep into the earth.

Sridama: "No animal I know leaves footprints like these."

Balram knelt and examined them.

The tracks were fresh.

Something large had passed recently.

Very recently.

---

The Hidden Cave

Following the footprints, the group discovered a massive cave hidden behind thick vines.

Darkness filled its entrance.

A foul smell drifted outward.

The younger children became frightened.

Radha: "We should go back."

Even Ayan's confidence began to fade.

Ayan: "Maybe treasure isn't worth this."

Krishna, however, stared into the darkness with unusual seriousness.

---

The Whispering Voice

Suddenly, a strange voice echoed from inside the cave.

Voice: "Leave..."

The children froze.

Again the voice came.

Voice: "Leave while you still can..."

Radha grabbed Krishna's arm.

Several children began backing away.

But Balram stepped forward.

Balram: "Who's there?"

No answer came.

Only silence.

---

The Serpent's Shadow

A low growl echoed from deep within the cave.

Then two glowing eyes appeared in the darkness.

The ground trembled.

Something enormous moved inside.

For a brief moment, a gigantic serpent-like shadow stretched across the cave wall.

The children gasped.

Ayan: "What is that?!"

Even Balram felt a strange sensation.

Not fear.

Recognition.

As though some ancient part of his soul knew the creature.

---

Krishna's Smile

The shadow disappeared.

The cave became silent once again.

Krishna looked toward Balram and smiled.

A mysterious smile.

Krishna: "It seems the grove has noticed us."

Balram: "What does that mean?"

Krishna only laughed.

Krishna: "You'll understand one day."

---

Return to Vraja

As sunset approached, Balram led everyone safely back to the village.

The children excitedly shared their story.

Most adults dismissed it as imagination.

But Nanda Baba looked troubled.

He knew the Forbidden Grove held secrets older than Vraja itself.

Secrets connected to destiny.

---

Ending

That night, Balram dreamed of an endless cosmic ocean.

A giant white serpent rested upon its waters.

Thousands of glowing eyes opened and stared at him.

Then a voice echoed through the dream.

Mysterious Voice: "Awaken... Guardian..."

Balram suddenly woke up.

The moon shone brightly outside his window.

Far away, hidden within the Forbidden Grove, a pair of glowing eyes opened once more.
