Episode 4: The Girl Who Changed Him

King of Shadows..

The following week became something V never expected.

A routine.

Every evening, after handling his empire's affairs, he found himself driving to the bookstore.

And every evening, Riya greeted him with the same warm smile.

"You're late today."

"Traffic."

"You're early today."

"I finished work."

"You finished a book already?"

"Maybe."

Their conversations were simple.

Normal.

Yet they became the best part of V's day.

---

One rainy evening, V entered the bookstore carrying a small paper bag.

Riya looked up from behind the counter.

"What's that?"

V placed the bag in front of her.

"A gift."

Riya blinked in surprise.

"A gift? For me?"

V nodded.

Curious, she opened it.

Inside was a beautiful leather-bound edition of her favorite novel.

Her eyes widened.

"No way!"

She carefully picked it up.

"It's gorgeous."

For the first time, V saw genuine excitement on her face.

And strangely, making her happy felt better than winning any battle.

"You remembered my favorite book."

"You mentioned it."

Riya smiled softly.

"You actually listened."

"I listen."

"No," she teased. "You stare and pretend not to."

V raised an eyebrow.

"Is that so?"

"Definitely."

To his surprise, he laughed.

A short, quiet laugh.

Riya looked shocked.

"You laughed!"

V immediately regretted it.

"What?"

"Nothing."

She grinned.

"But I like this version of you."

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

The air between them felt different.

Warmer.

More personal.

---

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Raghav's men continued their investigation.

One of them placed several photographs on the table.

"Boss, we've confirmed everything."

Raghav picked up the pictures.

Each one showed V entering and leaving the bookstore.

And in every photo, Riya was there.

The mafia leader smirked.

"So the King of Shadows finally has a weakness."

His men exchanged nervous glances.

"What should we do?"

Raghav's smile darkened.

"Nothing."

The room fell silent.

"Not yet."

He leaned back in his chair.

"When the time is right, we'll use her."

---

Back at the bookstore, rain continued falling outside.

The streets glistened beneath the city lights.

Riya stood near the window.

"I love rainy nights."

V looked at her.

"Why?"

"They make everything feel peaceful."

Peace.

The word felt foreign to him.

His life had never been peaceful.

Not once.

"I don't remember the last peaceful day I had."

Riya turned toward him.

For the first time, sadness appeared in her eyes.

"That sounds lonely."

The words struck him harder than any bullet.

Lonely.

Maybe she was right.

For years, he had surrounded himself with people.

Bodyguards.

Partners.

Followers.

Yet none of them truly knew him.

They feared him.

Respected him.

Obeyed him.

But Riya...

She simply cared.

---

The bookstore closed an hour later.

As Riya prepared to leave, she noticed the heavy rain outside.

"Oh no."

"What?"

"I forgot my umbrella."

V glanced outside.

The storm had become worse.

"You'll get sick."

Riya sighed.

"Looks like I'll be standing here all night."

Without saying a word, V removed his coat and held it above her head.

"Come on."

Her eyes widened.

"What about you?"

"I'll be fine."

Together, they walked through the rain toward her apartment.

The distance wasn't far.

But for both of them, it felt too short.

When they finally reached her building, Riya stopped.

Water droplets sparkled in her hair.

"Thank you."

V stared at her for a moment.

His heartbeat felt strangely unfamiliar.

Dangerous.

Powerful.

Real.

"You're welcome."

Riya smiled.

A smile that somehow made the entire world disappear.

"Goodnight, V."

"Goodnight, Riya."

She entered the building.

But before the door closed completely, she looked back one last time.

And smiled again.

---

As V returned to his car, something inside him had changed.

For years, he believed fear was the strongest force in the world.

Now he wasn't so sure.

Because one simple girl had accomplished what no enemy ever could.

She had broken through the walls around his heart.

And somewhere in the darkness of the city, enemies were already watching.

Waiting.

Planning.

Preparing to turn V's greatest happiness into his greatest nightmare.
