...CHAPTER 3...
...ATTENTION AND BOUNDARIES...
...By: Com3tommo¥...
The morning sun streamed through the tall windows of the Kim family dining room, catching the glint of silverware and the steam rising from the breakfast table. The atmosphere was calm, but there was a lingering warmth in the air — a quiet reminder of everything that had happened the night before.
Jungkook sat between V and Taehyung, looking perfectly put-together in his school uniform, though if you looked closely, you could see the faint marks peeking out just above the collar of his shirt, carefully covered but still there. He was eating his toast and chatting as usual, bright and lively, but the twins kept glancing at him from time to time — their gazes softer than usual, filled with a quiet satisfaction.
“You’re quiet this morning,” Jungkook said, taking a sip of milk. “Still thinking about what I said yesterday? About the new student?”
V set down his cup, his expression shifting from relaxed to sharp, his eyes narrowing slightly. “I haven’t forgotten. You said she was staring.”
Taehyung chuckled, but there was no real amusement in it. “People stare at us all the time. It’s nothing new. But if she’s bold enough to try and get close… well, we’ll see.”
Jungkook shrugged, leaning back in his chair. “I’m just saying. She looked like she had plans. And she’s not the type to give up easily, from what I saw.”
V’s jaw tightened. “Let her try. They all know we don’t give anyone special attention. Not anymore.”
The words were clear — a reminder that their hearts and time were already taken, even if no one else knew it.
At School — Morning Assembly
The academy’s grand hall was filled with students, all standing in neat rows. The Kim twins stood near the front, as always — drawing eyes from almost everyone in the room. And just as Jungkook had predicted, the new transfer student, Park Soo-jin, was standing not too far away, her gaze fixed firmly on V and Taehyung, a confident, determined smile on her face.
When the assembly ended, students began to disperse. Soo-jin didn’t waste any time. She walked straight toward the twins, her steps sure and graceful, stopping right in front of them before Jungkook could even say anything.
“Good morning,” she said, her voice sweet and clear, smiling brightly. “I’m Park Soo-jin. I transferred here yesterday. I’ve heard so much about you both — it’s nice to finally meet you properly.”
Taehyung raised an eyebrow, his expression polite but distant. “Good morning. Welcome to the school.”
V simply nodded, his face unreadable, giving nothing away.
Soo-jin didn’t seem put off by their coolness. She turned her eyes to Jungkook, who was standing beside them with his hands in his pockets, watching the scene unfold with an amused look. “And you must be their friend, Jeon Jungkook? I’ve heard about you too.”
“Just Jungkook is fine,” he said casually, smiling back but keeping his distance.
Soo-jin’s attention quickly returned to the twins. “I was wondering — since I’m new here, would you mind showing me around the campus later? I’d hate to get lost.”
Before either of them could answer, Jungkook spoke up, his tone light but firm. “Actually, I was just about to show her around. I know the place better than anyone.”
Soo-jin’s smile faltered slightly, but she recovered quickly. “Oh, that’s okay. I’d prefer to hear from them directly, since they’re… well, everyone knows them.”
V’s eyes sharpened, and he took a small step forward, placing his hand casually but deliberately on Jungkook’s shoulder — a gesture that looked friendly to outsiders, but held a clear, possessive message. “Jungkook is right. He knows this school better than we do. He can show you everything you need to see.”
Taehyung stood on Jungkook’s other side, mirroring V’s action, resting his hand lightly on Jungkook’s upper arm. “Besides, we have student council duties this morning. We’re busy.”
The way they stood — one on each side of Jungkook, their bodies angled slightly toward him, their hands resting on him like it was the most natural thing in the world — was subtle, but anyone paying close attention could feel the boundary being drawn. We are not available. And this one is ours.
Soo-jin’s smile tightened, but she didn’t back down. “I see. Well, perhaps during lunch then? We could sit together and talk.”
“Sorry,” Taehyung said smoothly, though his voice held no room for argument. “We always eat with Jungkook. It’s a habit.”
“Every day,” V added, his tone final.
Soo-jin looked between the three of them, her eyes narrowing slightly as she noticed the way the twins looked at Jungkook — not just as a friend, but with something deeper, something far more intense than simple companionship. She couldn’t quite place it, but she could feel it: that she was standing on the outside of something closed off and private.
“Ah… I understand,” she said, though she clearly didn’t like it. “Maybe another time then.”
She gave a small bow before turning and walking away, her steps a little faster than before.
In the Hallway — After She Left
As soon as she was out of earshot, Jungkook burst out laughing, shaking his head. “Wow. She didn’t even try to hide it. She really thinks she can just walk in and get close to you two.”
V removed his hand from Jungkook’s shoulder, but his expression was still dark. “She’s not the first. She won’t be the last. But they all need to learn the same lesson.”
Taehyung smirked, reaching out to straighten the collar of Jungkook’s uniform, his fingers brushing lightly against the skin where the faint marks were hidden. “And you enjoyed watching her try, didn’t you? Acting all innocent and polite.”
Jungkook grinned, leaning against the lockers casually. “It’s funny to watch. But you two were very quick to shut her down. Possessive much?”
V stepped closer, lowering his voice so only Jungkook could hear, his eyes glinting with that familiar heat. “We have every right to be. They don’t know you like we do. They don’t get to look at you, or talk to you, or even think they have a chance with us. Because we already have everything we want.”
Taehyung leaned in from the other side, his breath warm against Jungkook’s ear. “And if anyone tries to get in the way… or tries to take what’s ours… we make sure they understand.”
Jungkook’s smile softened, and he looked between them, his eyes warm and bright. He knew exactly what they meant — and he liked it. He liked that they were unapologetic about it, even if they had to keep it hidden from the world.
“Good,” he said quietly, reaching out to tap their chests lightly. “Because I’m not going anywhere. Even if a hundred transfer students show up.”
V chuckled, the sound low and warm. “Good. Now come on. Class is starting. And later… when we get home? We’ll remind you exactly who you belong to. Just to make sure.”
Jungkook laughed, shoving them playfully as they began to walk toward the classroom, the three of them falling into step together like they always did — the Kim twins and their best friend, the secret that no one else could ever fully understand.
