EPISODE FOUR
The door stayed open.
For exactly three seconds.
Ji-eun didn’t move.
Neither did Kang Tae-hyun.
The hallway behind him was swallowed in darkness, but his presence filled every inch of the doorway like he belonged there more than the apartment itself.
Doctor Yoon stepped forward instinctively, blocking Ji-eun slightly.
“You shouldn’t be here,” the old man said, voice shaking.
Tae-hyun’s gaze didn’t even flicker toward him.
“I wasn’t talking to you.”
His eyes stayed on Ji-eun.
Cold.
Focused.
Unblinking.
Ji-eun’s throat tightened.
“…How did you find me so fast?”
A faint pause.
Then Tae-hyun stepped inside.
The door closed behind him on its own.
“I never lost you,” he said quietly. “I was simply waiting for you to appear.”
The words made no sense.
But somehow, they felt like truth.
Doctor Yoon moved quickly.
“This is dangerous. You need to leave now, Ji-eun.”
Tae-hyun’s head tilted slightly.
“You’ve been hiding him poorly.”
The air shifted.
Something sharp and suffocating pressed against Ji-eun’s chest.
Alpha pressure.
Not loud.
Not violent.
Controlled.
Intentional.
Ji-eun’s knees almost buckled.
Tae-hyun noticed immediately.
And stopped.
Just like that.
The pressure disappeared.
Silence returned—but it wasn’t safe. It was worse.
It was controlled restraint.
“You’re hurting him,” Doctor Yoon said sharply.
Tae-hyun finally looked at him.
“Then stop lying to him.”
A beat.
“I know what he is.”
Ji-eun froze.
The room tilted slightly.
“No…” Ji-eun whispered. “That’s impossible.”
Tae-hyun stepped closer.
Slow.
Measured.
Like he was approaching something fragile.
“I smelled it,” he said. “Night jasmine doesn’t belong to a Beta.”
Doctor Yoon’s hand tightened.
“Even if that were true—he’s not yours.”
A flicker crossed Tae-hyun’s eyes.
Dangerous.
Almost amused.
“I didn’t say he was.”
A pause.
Then softer—
“Yet.”
---
Somewhere outside the apartment…
A phone vibrated.
Choi Min-woo stared at the screen.
Unknown Location Detected
His expression changed instantly.
The playful smile was gone.
“Ji-eun…” he muttered.
He grabbed his jacket and keys.
And for the first time in years…
He ran without thinking.
---
Back inside the apartment, Tae-hyun slowly removed his gloves.
One by one.
Carefully.
As if he was preparing for something important.
Doctor Yoon stepped back, alarm rising.
“What are you doing?”
Tae-hyun didn’t answer immediately.
His gaze shifted to Ji-eun’s cracked suppressant bracelet.
Then to Ji-eun’s face.
“You’ve been surviving on borrowed time,” he said.
Ji-eun swallowed.
“I don’t need your help.”
That earned a pause.
A long one.
Then Tae-hyun finally spoke.
“No.”
His voice lowered.
“You’ve been surviving because I allowed it.”
Silence shattered the room.
Ji-eun’s breath caught.
Doctor Yoon looked shaken.
“That’s not possible…”
Tae-hyun leaned slightly closer.
“And yet,” he said, “you’re still alive.”
A distant sound echoed from the street below.
Car doors.
Multiple.
Closing in.
Tae-hyun’s eyes didn’t move from Ji-eun.
“They found the apartment.”
Doctor Yoon went pale.
Ji-eun stepped back instinctively.
“Who found us?”
Tae-hyun’s answer came instantly.
“Everyone who wants you.”
A beat.
Then—
He extended his hand.
Calm.
Certain.
“Come with me.”
Ji-eun stared at it like it was a trap.
“…And if I refuse?”
Tae-hyun’s expression didn’t change.
“Then you die here.”
A pause.
“And I burn the building after.”
He said it like it was already decided.
Outside…
The first gunshot cracked through the night.
The glass window shattered inward.
And chaos finally arrived.
Ji-eun flinched,"what was that??
We don't have much time is either you follow me now or you die here... Tae-hyun said with cold expression...
