Chapter 2: The Art Gallery Shadow

A week had passed since that fateful afternoon at Apex Horizon Real Estate, but for Jeon Jungkook, time had become irrelevant. He could not sleep, he could not drink, and the club scenes that once amused him now felt utterly hollow. His bedroom in the massive Jeon mansion was filled with the faint, lingering memory of a scent he had only caught once.

Downstairs, the family was gathered for breakfast. The dining table was spread with a lavish feast. Jeon Namjoon was reading through a financial report, while Seokjin, radiant and elegant, was sipping tea. Across from them sat Jimin, looking effortlessly chic in a silk blouse, leaning against his husband, Yoongi, who was quietly reviewing a production contract for Eclipse Beats.

"Jungkook, you haven't touched your food," Seokjin noted, his sharp Omega instincts picking up on his youngest son’s tense, brooding energy. "And your father tells me you haven't asked for a single credit card upgrade this week. Are you sick?"

"I'm fine, Eomma," Jungkook muttered, staring blankly at his phone.

Jimin smirked, taking a bite of fruit. "He probably finally met an Alpha who beat him in a street race. Or an Omega who actually told him 'no'."

Jungkook’s eyes flashed a dangerous crimson for a split second, a low growl escaping his throat. Yoongi immediately shifted, his own dominant Alpha pheromones rising slightly to protect Jimin, though his expression remained calm.

"Control your temper, Jungkook," Namjoon said, his deep, booming voice cutting through the tension without him even raising it. "You're in our home. Respect your brother."

Jungkook stood up, throwing his napkin onto the table. "I'm going out."

"Don't forget your university presentation tomorrow!" Seokjin called out, but the heavy front doors had already slammed shut.

Jungkook knew exactly where he was going. He had used his family's resources to track Taehyung's schedule down to the exact minute. Taehyung was currently attending a student art exhibition at the Glow Canvas Gallery, a small, quiet space near the university district.

When Jungkook arrived, the gallery was peaceful, filled with soft classical music and a few art enthusiasts. And there, standing in front of a large canvas depicting a stormy sea, was Taehyung. He looked angelic, wearing a soft pastel blue beret and a matching oversized coat. He held a sketchbook tightly against his chest, completely absorbed in the art.

Jungkook approached silently, his footsteps muffled by the thick carpets. He intentionally suppressed his heavy scent this time, wanting to get close before the fragile boy could run.

"Do you like storms?" Jungkook’s deep voice shattered the silence right next to Taehyung's ear.

Taehyung flinched violently, gasping as he stumbled back a step. His eyes went wide with recognition as he looked up at the tall Alpha. The same leather jacket, the same piercing, obsessive dark eyes. Fear instantly gripped Taehyung's throat.

"Y-You..." Taehyung whispered, his voice shaking. "Why are you here?"

"I like art," Jungkook said smoothly, though his eyes never once looked at the canvas behind Taehyung. They were locked onto Taehyung's soft, pink lips. "Especially beautiful things."

"Please leave me alone," Taehyung said, his voice dropping to a panicked plea. He looked around, realizing the gallery was mostly empty. The quietness, which usually comforted him, now felt terrifying because it left him alone with this imposing stranger. "I don't know you."

"We can fix that," Jungkook took a step forward, cornering Taehyung against the gallery wall. He let a fraction of his cedarwood scent bleed into the air, heavy and dominating. "My name is Jeon Jungkook. Now you know me."

"I don't want to know you!" Taehyung suddenly cried out, his voice cracking with emotion. The sudden loudness of his own voice in the quiet gallery scared him even more. Tears gathered at the corners of his eyes. "You're scary. Go away!"

Taehyung pushed past Jungkook’s broad chest with all the strength his small hands could muster. To Jungkook, it felt like a feather pressing against a brick wall, but he allowed the Omega to break away.

Jungkook watched as Taehyung practically ran out of the gallery, his soft lavender scent fluttering through the air like a dying butterfly. Jungkook stood in the empty space, a dark, dangerous smirk spreading across his face. He wiped a hand over his mouth, tasting the air.

"Run all you want, sweetheart," Jungkook whispered to the empty room. "You're just making the hunt more fun."
