Chapter 3: A New Morning
Morning arrived.
Golden sunlight filtered through the tall trees, casting mysterious shadows across my bedroom floor. The soft breeze drifting through the open window carried the scent of fresh flowers, making the room feel peaceful.
If only my life was as peaceful as this morning.
"Mmm..." a sleepy voice murmured.
It was Alaze.
She stretched her arms and yawned before smiling.
"Morning, sisters."
"Morning," Alexa and I replied together.
Alaze walked into the bathroom as usual. She loved taking long showers, and today was no different. Nearly thirty minutes later, she stepped out wearing a fluffy white robe, her damp hair resting on her shoulders.
"So," she asked, "who's leading today?"
The three of us shared one body, but only one soul could control it at a time. Every morning, we decided whose turn it was.
"I'll lead today," I answered.
Alexa smiled.
"Good luck."
I sighed.
"It's going to be another long day."
I walked to the wardrobe and stared at the rows of expensive clothes.
"Sometimes I wonder what a normal life feels like."
Neither of them answered.
"On one hand, I own one of the biggest companies in the kingdom. I spend my days attending meetings, signing contracts, and pretending everything is perfect."
I paused.
"On the other hand... I'm cursed."
I closed my eyes.
"Every day I wake up hearing two voices in my head. Every day I have to pretend I'm someone I'm not."
I forced a smile.
"I just want one normal day."
Alexa crossed her arms.
"And don't forget the prophecy."
I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, don't remind me."
I recited the ancient words from memory.
'Three boys, one blood. Break the bond that keeps us bound.'
"What kind of riddle is that?" I groaned. "That old witch could have explained it better."
Alexa laughed.
"Come on, Lexia. You know none of us understands it."
"Exactly! It makes no sense."
"Will you two stop arguing?" Alaze sighed.
Within seconds, Alexa and I were talking over each other.
"You always think you're right!"
"Because I usually am!"
"Oh, really?"
"Enough!" Alaze shouted.
The room became silent.
"You two fight like little children... and you're older than me."
Alexa and I looked at each other before laughing.
"Fine," Alexa said.
"You can lead today."
"Good," I replied with a grin.
After getting dressed, I slipped into a fitted red business suit with matching heels. I left my long hair flowing naturally down my back before grabbing my handbag.
Outside, a sleek black car was already waiting.
As we drove through the city, people hurried to work without knowing who was sitting behind the tinted windows.
The car stopped in front of Royal Crescent Holdings, the largest company in the kingdom. The glass building towered over everything around it.
Most people believed the mysterious CEO was a man.
None of them knew the truth.
The CEO...
...was me.
Employees greeted me respectfully as I entered the building.
"Good morning, Ma'am."
"Good morning."
I walked into my private office and immediately began reading reports and signing documents.
Sometimes being successful wasn't exciting.
It was lonely.
A knock interrupted my thoughts.
"Come in."
The door opened.
Claira, my secretary and closest friend, entered carrying several files.
Unlike everyone else, she knew our secret.
"Morning, girls," she said with a smile.
"Morning."
"Hi."
"Hey."
She placed the files on my desk before raising an eyebrow.
"So..."
"Any progress?"
I knew exactly what she meant.
"The curse?"
I sighed.
"No."
"We've searched ancient libraries, questioned powerful witches, and even spoken to magical creatures."
"None of them know how to break it."
Claira remained quiet.
Then she whispered,
"But... what about the prophecy?"
Before I could answer, my phone vibrated on the desk.
Unknown Number.
I frowned before answering.
A cold voice spoke only one sentence.
"We've found one of the three boys."
My heart stopped.
