I never thought I’d be the kind of girlfriend who had to test her boyfriend’s desire.

Liam Carter and I had been together for two years. He was everything I wanted on paper — handsome, successful, the 28-year-old VP at a major tech firm with a charming smile and kind heart. But lately, our relationship had become… cold.

It started six months ago. The kisses became quick pecks. The nights together turned into him rolling over with a tired “Not tonight, babe.” At first I thought it was work stress. Then I started wondering if it was me.

Tonight was supposed to be different. I cooked his favorite meal, wore the red dress he once said made me look irresistible, and lit candles in our apartment. When Liam walked through the door, looking exhausted in his tailored suit, I greeted him with a deep kiss.

He kissed me back… but pulled away too soon. “Smells amazing, Mia. Long day.”

We ate dinner, talking about surface things. After the plates were cleared, I tried again. I sat on his lap, running my fingers through his dark hair, pressing closer. “I miss you, Liam. I miss us.”

His hands rested on my waist, but there was no heat in his touch. No hunger. His body stayed tense. “Mia… I’m sorry. I’m just tired.”

Frustration and hurt bubbled up. I stood up, crossing my arms. “Tired? For six months? Liam, be honest with me. Are you… impotent? Is that what this is?”

The word hung heavy in the air. Liam’s face paled. He ran a hand over his face, looking defeated. “Mia… it’s complicated.”

“Complicated how?” My voice cracked. “I love you, but I can’t keep feeling unwanted. Tell me the truth.”

He looked at me with those warm brown eyes, full of guilt. “I want you. God, I do. But something’s wrong. I’ve been to doctors. They say it’s psychological. Stress. Past stuff I haven’t told you about.”

Tears stung my eyes. “Then let me help you. Let me test this. Let me fight for us.”

Liam stood up and pulled me into a hug. “I don’t deserve you, Mia. But if you’re willing… we can try.”

That night, as we lay in bed, I rested my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat. I was determined to test every limit, to bring back the passion we once had.

But deep down, I wondered if my “impotent” boyfriend was hiding something much bigger. Something that could either save us… or break us completely.
