The Light Buried Within
Title: Princess of Darkness
Main character's POV
"If I were given the chance to go back in time then I would change every single mistake I've ever made. That would come with dire consequences of course but I would do anything to change the course of what would be my entire life. Unfortunately I cannot so the answer to your question Miss Heather is that my aspirations amount to nothing so I have no dreams to achieve after my final year at this academy. " Once again my patience, courtesy of my father amounts to nothing but a thin thread. I felt a sharp urge to swat my best friend's finger away from my otherwise untidy pencil case and so I did. Her ever calm hazel eyes bore into mine as Miss Heather sighed once more and proceeded to ask Violet, my best friend what she wishes to do after her final year at this stuck up school. "Firstly I would apply for med school the most probable choice is Harvard University. Then I'd travel as much as possible before the beginning of the school year and lastly make sure my friend here Angel gets a proper dream or goal before college." I don't know what has gotten into her head but if she assumes I'll hang around her long enough for her goody two shoe influence to grasp me then she's got another thing coming.
Chapter 1~ Once again
Angel's POV
The whole day has been nothing but unsatisfactory. I spent most of it feeling somewhat angry at what happened this morning during Guidance and counseling. I tried to be civilized. I really did. Unfortunately most of the people in my class are annoying. Others refuse to submit homework on time so guess who does it? Me that's who. Some of them drag me by the shoulder, *my* shoulder. *Body contact *from people that assume they're funny or better yet my friends .
So by the time we were dismissed for the day I clutched my heavy backpack and rushed out of the room. "Do you really have to rush like that though?" Violet said from beside me. I ran my fingers through my dark hair and tugged it loose from its confinement. I pulled it out of the gap between my bag and my back then continued walking with Violet. She just gave me her everyday 'that was unnecessary' look which I grinned at.
We soon arrived at the parking lot where we would go our separate ways. I dragged her into the daily goodbye hug she always tries to avoid to no avail. When I let her go she glared at me then teleported to wherever she goes after school whilst I rummaged my bag for my headphones only to feel a cloth covering my mouth and nose. The smell irritated me but I felt my eyelids grow heavier each passing second until I saw darkness.
Ryland's POV
She's late..
She's never late.
Angelica Morningstar is the most punctual person I've ever met. So her being three hours late and not answering her phone is the most worrying thing if not infuriating.
I tried calling her again but all I heard was the mechanic voice telling me her phone is off. I paced because its the only thing I could do. Our father was in a very important meeting and our mother was somewhere I'd rather not know of so this was extremely difficult to handle.
"You look stressed," a deep voice said from behind me. I turned around to see Tyson leaning against the wall with his smug expression plastered on his face. "She's late." His smirk dropped "Define *late*." he said as he pulled out his phone. "Three hours," I said with a sigh. His fingers flew across his screen like a madman.
Finally after what seemed like an eternity, "She's been kidnapped." he spat through gritted teeth. "How do you know?" I asked. He threw his phone at me and grabbed his leather jacket on the way out. I sped after him my eyes glued to the screen as I saw my little sister get knocked out and dragged away.
Tyson looked livid as he got in his car, his jaw clenched, eyes burning with rage and breathing rapid. To be fair I was mad too. Extremely.
So as he drove to God knows where I called my father but unfortunately his phone was off. Once again . I hate our parents.
Angel's pov
I opened my eyes to be met with darkness. Complete utter darkness. "Hello! I want water!" I shouted into the darkness. "Trust me I can scream all night long idiots!" I rubbed my wrists together letting the ropes that bound me bite into my skin. I heard footsteps before cold water cascaded down my hair dripping onto my clothes. I scoffed, "You really don't know who I am? I'm a Morningstar and trust me once I get out of here I'll burn you alive." I glared at the dark figure. He chuckled "Lucifer's bastard wants to burn me? Ha! Don't make me laugh brat." I tried to lunge but the ropes held me in place. "I hope you burn in hell idiot!" I spat at him. Finally I felt the fibers of the rope snap before he poured more water on me. I waited till he tilted the bucket again before I lunged with my fangs bared and my eyes onyx black. I wrapped my hands around his neck squeezing with all my might before I felt it break. "Let's hear you laugh now." I leaned back against the cold musty wall my eyes returning to their usual amber glow. My head spinning at ninety miles an hour as whatever it was they gave me took effect.
I stumbled towards the door, trying to get out of the worn down building I was in. That's when I saw two figures in the hallway as soon as I opened the door. Their heads shot towards me in pure shock. "Well this is going to be fun." I said as my eyes bled black and my fangs potruded once more.
Tyson's POV
I slammed the brakes before the tyres had a chance to squeal. The old worn down building loomed over the both of us as we moved with unsettling speed. Just as we were about to kick the door open it creaked open. There she was bruised, fangs receding, raven black curls clinging to her face and neck like a second skin. Angel freaking Morningstar. "Oh hey!"
Did she really just-? "So there should be like two guys tied to a pole in there so of you go Rylie." Ryland stood there in shock as she limped towards my car clicking her slender fingers beckoning me over. Before I knew it my arms were wrapped around her waist like she would dissappear if I was to let her go."Hey I'm okay, y'know. You don't need to worry Ty." "It's my fault. I should've-" "It was a breach in security Tyson. You were busy. It's not your fault!" She snapped at me. Angel scrunched her nose, "I taste something bitter in my mouth." I pulled back enough to look at her properly, "Huh?" she stuck her tongue out. "My mouth tastes like lemon and salt," I gazed into her amber eyes. "If you want I can-" "Just do it already" she whispered. I buried my head in the crook of her neck letting myself inhale her scent. She smelt of strawberry and something else. Something dark. My fangs elongated and pierced through her neck letting her blood flow into my mouth. "Holy crap!" I spat her blood on the ground next to me, "It tastes like vervain." I murmured.
Angel's POV
Every part of my body throbbed as the hot water cascaded down my body, letting my tension ease.
"It tastes like vervain."
I rarely had vervain in my system. I only had it when Tyson invited me to his mansion and had his father's family there also.
Vampires in his family aren't really known for their self control. In fact its surprising that he has as much self control as he has right now. I wondered what else was in my system that I didn't know of. Tyson can't taste anything besides the burning sensation of the vervain when he tastes my blood so I have to live with whatever it is inside me till the vervain is out of my system. Assuming whatever is in me doesn't dissipate as well. I padded out the shower, dried off then wore one of Tyson's hoodies over my tank top and shorts. I opened the bottom cabinet and took out the first-aid kit I kept in there placing it on the bathroom counter. Only then did I stare at myself through the mirror.
My curly raven black hair was pushed back by my grey plush headband making it so that my hair cascaded down my back in shiny black curls till it ever so slightly grazed my waist. My amber eyes were dull and devoid of their usual mischievous glint. Blue and purple bruises scattered across my caramel skin and three long scratches graced my right cheek.
I gripped the white ceramic sink so hard I was afraid it would break at any moment. The door swung open to reveal Tyson striding towards me. His platinum blonde hair effortlessly messy and his cerulean blue eyes filled with concern. He stood behind me, rested his head on my shoulder and stared at me through the mirror. "I'm sorry for not being there for you princess," he murmured. His hands resting on my hips, tracing the hem of his hoodie on me. I sniffled before saying, "It's okay. It wasn't your fault Ty."
He ended up cleaning my wounds and bandaging them before sitting next to me while I was murmuring incoherent words wrapped in my dark purple blanket. I fell asleep to him caressing my hair.
For once I realized I wasn't alone. I had Tyson and that's more than enough.
