The forest was silent for a moment.
Ethan stood beside Kael, staring at the group of hunters surrounding them. Their silver weapons reflected the light of the moon, and every symbol carved into their armor seemed to carry an ancient power.
These were not ordinary people.
They were the ones who had hunted werewolves for generations.
Ethan felt his heartbeat increase.
"Kael..." Ethan whispered. "How are we supposed to fight all of them?"
Kael looked forward calmly.
"We do not fight because we are stronger."
Ethan looked confused.
"Then why?"
"Because we have something they do not."
"What?"
Kael glanced at Ethan.
"Hope."
Before Ethan could respond, the masked hunter stepped forward.
"My name is Alaric Vane. I am the leader of the Silver Fang Order."
Ethan tightened his fists.
"The same hunters who imprisoned Kael?"
Alaric looked at the ancient werewolf.
"Your friend is not the innocent guardian he claims to be."
Kael's eyes narrowed.
"Still spreading lies after twenty years?"
Alaric ignored him and looked at Ethan.
"You do not understand what is inside you, boy. That curse will consume you."
Ethan stepped forward.
"I can control it."
The hunters laughed.
Alaric shook his head.
"Every werewolf says the same thing."
Ethan remembered losing control in the cave.
For a moment, doubt entered his mind.
But he pushed it away.
"I am not them."
Alaric studied him carefully.
"Perhaps."
The hunter raised his hand.
The soldiers moved forward.
"Show us."
Kael immediately stepped in front of Ethan.
"Do not listen to him."
But Ethan stopped him.
"No."
Kael looked surprised.
"Ethan?"
"If they are afraid of what I am becoming, then I need to prove I am not a monster."
The hunters attacked.
The first hunter rushed toward Ethan with a silver blade.
Ethan moved without thinking.
His instincts took over.
He dodged the attack and moved behind the hunter faster than his eyes could follow.
The hunter froze.
"Impossible..."
Ethan pushed him away without hurting him.
The others surrounded him.
Kael fought against the remaining hunters, but he noticed something different.
Ethan was not fighting with anger.
He was fighting with control.
Every movement was precise.
Every decision was careful.
But then one hunter fired a special arrow toward Kael.
Ethan saw it.
Time seemed to slow.
Without thinking, he jumped in front of Kael.
The arrow struck the ground beside him, releasing a wave of energy.
Ethan fell.
Pain spread through his body.
The wolf inside him became furious.
A powerful roar escaped his throat.
His eyes turned silver.
His claws appeared.
The hunters stepped back.
"The transformation..."
Alaric watched closely.
"This is what we feared."
Ethan's breathing became heavier.
The wolf wanted control.
It wanted to attack.
It wanted revenge.
"Ethan!" Kael shouted.
But Ethan struggled to hear him.
All he could feel was anger.
Then he remembered something.
His old life.
His family.
His best friend Lucas.
The person he wanted to remain.
"I am not just a beast."
Ethan closed his eyes.
"I am Ethan Vale."
Slowly, the transformation stopped.
The hunters stared in shock.
Alaric lowered his weapon.
"You controlled it."
Kael looked proud.
"I knew he could."
Alaric became silent.
For the first time, he looked uncertain.
Then a sudden howl echoed through the mountains.
Everyone stopped.
Kael's expression changed.
"No..."
Ethan looked at him.
"What is it?"
Kael stared into the darkness.
"Something worse than hunters."
A figure walked out from the shadows.
The air became heavy.
The creature had dark fur, glowing red eyes, and a scar across its face.
Ethan felt the wolf inside him react.
It recognized this enemy.
Alaric stepped back.
"Impossible..."
The creature smiled.
"It has been twenty years, Kael."
Kael's voice became serious.
"Vargan."
The legendary enemy from the ancient war had returned.
Ethan looked between them.
"This is the one you warned me about?"
Vargan looked at Ethan.
"So this is the human who carries the Moonbound Curse."
Ethan prepared himself.
"I don't know what you want, but I won't let you control me."
Vargan laughed.
"You still think this is about control?"
He stepped closer.
"The curse chose you because of your blood."
Ethan froze.
"My blood?"
Kael looked worried.
Vargan smiled.
"Your family has been connected to the werewolf world for generations."
Ethan stared at Kael.
"You knew?"
Kael said nothing.
And that silence was enough.
Ethan felt betrayed.
Before he could ask another question, Vargan disappeared into the darkness.
The hunters retreated as well.
The forest became quiet again.
Ethan turned toward Kael.
"What else are you hiding from me?"
Kael looked away.
"The truth about your family."
Ethan's heart sank.
The curse had already changed his future.
Now he discovered it had been connected to his past.
And the answers he needed were buried deeper than Shadowfang Cave itself.
