In the morning, the man is woken up by the girl, who seems tired. She is fully prepared, as if she is about to leave. Her eyes are still lifeless.
"Wake up. The king wants to see us. Your clothes are at the base of the bed."
The man looks at the girl, noticing something new. A few strands of her hair are now silver, and her eyes have a faint shade of blue.
The man stands up.
"Okay, I'll be out in a few minutes. You can go outside the room now."
The girl continues looking at him.
"Sorry, I can't. The king said I should not leave your side."
Now I'm not scared of being cut open. I'm scared I'm going to get used, or even sold. And what's with this king's stuff? Wait... what if I don't do what they want? Will they kill me?
"I'll do what you want."
The man starts removing his clothes one by one while glancing at the girl. Her eyes remain fixed on him the entire time, making him feel embarrassed.
He continues changing, and just before removing the last of his clothes, the girl quietly leaves. This causes the man to hurry and put on his trousers.
Halfway through, the girl returns carrying a large mirror. She places it in front of him so he can look at himself, then stands with her back against the door, watching him.
For the first time, he truly sees himself.
He looks much younger. The burn that had covered half of his face is gone, and there is no scar on his body.
This greatly surprises him. The surprise quickly overcomes his embarrassment.
"So that's why my vision is so good... I look younger by, what, fifty years? Even though I know I didn't look that old. At seventy I only had white hair. This is quite interesting."
"What medicine did you use on me?" the man asks, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"You died in your original world, so the God of Reincarnation reconstructed a body for you. But because two souls were brought at once, he had to check another one. Stop acting as if it is a lie. You will understand soon."The man finishes putting on his clothes which, from the texture, are woolen and have a minimal and ancient design, if he was to guess.
The girl escorts the man to the dining room, where they find the place full of people wearing fine clothes with purple lines, which are fully different than the common ones worn by the man.
The people are sitting around a very long and impractical table. There is no room for another person.
The king notices the two, but he ignores the man looking at the girl, seeing the white strands. He becomes uneasy.
"Sorry, you two. I got a bit carried away inviting the other kings and some nobles. But you can eat with those," he says while pointing to a much smaller table at the corner where there are servants sitting.
The table seems foreign in the room. It is worn down, made out of wood unlike the stone and slab tables, with a white cloth over it.
"Mister, we should go to the table. It is an order from—"
Before the girl can finish, the door opens.
A man with bright green eyes, flowing silver hair, he is wearing a white shirt and black trousers and a bright smile walks confidently into the room. As he is walking, seeing the common man in front of him, he intentionally bumps into the man.
"You should apologize, or just say for someone to make way for you, didn't you—"
Before the man can finish, the silver-haired man pins him face-first onto the ground.
"Who are you to tell me what to do, you common folk? You weak peasant. You shouldn't even be in this place."
"Should—"
The man who was twisting the arm is stopped when the girl puts her hand on his shoulder.
"He did not mean anything. He was just learning to sit. Plus, he is as important as you. It's just that he was inexperienced, so stop."
The silver-haired man stops, saying something about it being a waste of energy to deal with the man.
The girl extends her hand to the man, who, looking at it causes him to remember something.
********************************************
A boy is running away. He had something as if it is important. He enters into an alleyway where he finds an injured dog lying among the trash.
The boy pets the dog. Sitting down, he takes out the wrapped object. It is a half loaf of bread. He starts sharing some of the bread with the dog.
That is when a group of seven teenage boys, all around the same age as the boy, arrive. They all are the same as the boy from the streets.
The teenagers, seeing the boy wasting food on a dog, throw the boy and the dog away, which causes the bread to fall into the dirt.
Feeling angry, they start beating the dog. The boy, seeing this, jumps to the dog's protection with his body.
After the teenagers have finished getting out their anger, they take the soggy bread.
The boy stands up, tearing up. He sees that the dog had died.
Feeling weak, the boy just lies back down in the alley, where he stays the whole day and night.
The teenagers, moving again, see the boy lying there, having been beaten by another group. Seeing the boy, they try to get back their sense of power, they start beating up the boy.
That is when a hand is extended to the boy.
The face of the person is shining with a holy light. No one could say if it is even a face. It is why his brain had come to cover the faces of the teenagers, who had run away after seeing the woman with a shadow and the woman with a blinding light.
He there it was a girl helping him up.
The man accepts the hand, and the two walk.
The silver-haired man had already walked up to the king, who ordered one of the people to vacate their seat and the rest to move to fill in the space so that the man could sit next to him.
"So, everyone, this is the man blessed by all the gods. Even calling him a man is disrespectful, and he is called Mike. And for that other man, I don't know, but he's not important."
