EPISODE 4

The black luxury sedan glided silently into the underground parking complex of the Kurogane Pharmaceuticals skyscraper—a glittering, fifty-story glass titan in the heart of the city's financial district. To the public, it was a multi-billion-dollar medical research empire. To the underworld, it was the ironclad fortress of the Kurogane Syndicate.

Kurogane led Takeru through a private, biometric elevator that shot upward past the normal office floors, straight to the top level. Takeru kept his eyes glued to the polished floorboards of the elevator, his jaw clenched so hard his teeth ached. He was frantically trying to process the madness of his situation, his mind racing through escape routes that all ended in a swift, bullet-ridden death.

'A pharmaceutical front,' Takeru thought, scowling side-eyed at the immaculate grey suit beside him. 'Of course a criminal network would hide behind life-saving medicine. The irony is disgusting.'

The elevator doors slid open with a soft, mechanical chime, revealing a massive, dimly lit penthouse office. The walls were constructed of dark walnut and reinforced smoked glass, offering a sweeping, god-like view of the sprawling city skyline below.

"Welcome to my study," Kurogane said smoothly, stepping out and loosening his silk tie with one hand. "You'll be spending a great deal of time here, so make yourself at home."

"I'd rather make myself an exit," Takeru muttered, crossing his arms and taking three deliberate steps away from the man.

Takeru was about to launch into a full-blown tirade demanding his student ID back when a low, vibrating rumble echoed from the shadowy corner near the floor-to-ceiling windows. It wasn't the sound of an engine, nor was it human. It was a guttural, terrifyingly deep predator's growl that made the tiny hairs on the back of Takeru's neck stand straight up.

Takeru froze mid-step.

Out from the shadows strolled a breathtaking, liquid-black apex predator. Muscle rippled beneath a coat of midnight fur as a massive, full-grown black panther glided across the polished glass floor. Its luminous yellow eyes locked onto Takeru, its jaw unhinging slightly to release another low, bone-rattling rumble.

Takeru’s vet-student brain short-circuited entirely. Domestic cats? Sure. Agitated Golden Retrievers? Easy. A fucking hundred-and-fifty-pound black panther in an executive office?!

"HOLY SHIT!"

The feisty, defiant vet student vanished in a microsecond. Takeru squeaked, lunged forward, and grabbed the back of Kurogane’s expensive suit jacket with both hands, shoving himself completely behind the taller man's broad frame. He buried his face against Kurogane's shoulder blades, holding onto the dark grey fabric like a lifeline while peeking out with one terrified eye.

"WHAT IS THAT?!" Takeru yelled, his voice cracking violently. "WHY DO YOU HAVE A WILD CATASTROPHE LIVING IN YOUR OFFICE?! ARE YOU TOTALLY CRAZY?!"

Kurogane didn't even flinch. He stood perfectly still, a slow, deep chuckle vibrating through his chest and into Takeru’s white-knuckled grip.

"Relax, little vet," Kurogane said, his tone dripping with dark amusement as the panther padded over and lazily bumped its massive, heavy head against Kurogane’s hip. "This is Shadow. She's harmless. Well, mostly harmless, unless I tell her to tear someone's throat out."

"HARMLESS?!" Takeru barked from behind Kurogane’s back, using the mafia boss as a physical human shield and shifting left and right to keep the silver-haired giant between himself and the beast. "That’s an apex carnivore, you uneducated mobster! It belongs in a sanctuary or a wild reserve, not trapped on the fiftieth floor of a commercial building!"

Kurogane turned slightly within Takeru's frantic grip, looking down at the smaller man with a dangerously fond, mocking gaze. "Are you lecturing me on my taste in pets while hiding behind my back like a terrified rabbit?"

"I am an exotic animal healthcare specialist in training!" Takeru snapped back, his cheeks burning red with a volatile mix of embarrassment and leftover adrenaline. He pointed a trembling finger at Kurogane’s face, completely forgetting his fear of the gun in the man's coat. "And you are a menace to public safety! First you point a gun at my head, then you kidnap me from my clinical shift, and now you subject me to a biohazard big cat?!"

Shadow let out a soft 'mew', a surprisingly delicate sound for such a massive beast and sat down, tilting her black head as if watching two toddlers argue.

Kurogane raised an eyebrow, entirely unfazed by the fiery rant directed at him. Any other man in the syndicate who raised his voice to the Boss like that would have been fed to the fishes in Tokyo Bay hours ago. But Kurogane simply smirked, stepping closer into Takeru’s personal space until the smaller boy was backed up against the edge of a heavy mahogany desk.

"You really have a mouth on you, don't you?" Kurogane purred.

Before Takeru could hurl another insult, Kurogane’s long hand shot out, grasping Takeru’s waist and hauling him forward. Takeru gasped as he was pulled flush against Kurogane's chest. The silver-haired man reached up, his long fingers trailing a slow, possessive line down Takeru's neck, slipping beneath the wide collar of his blue scrubs to trace the sensitive curve of his collarbone.

"Hey! Hands off, you pervert!" Takeru squirmed, slapping wildly at Kurogane’s heavy forearm. "Stop touching me like I'm some kind of interactive exhibit!"

"You put your hands all over my chest last night when you stitched me up," Kurogane murmured, his thumb brushing lightly over the rapid pulse beating in Takeru’s throat. His icy eyes darkened with an intense, unhinged possessiveness as he leaned down, his lips practically grazing Takeru’s burning ear. "I’m just returning the courtesy, doctor. You're feisty...noisy...and entirely too mouthy. But every time you snap at me, I just want to lock you in this room even more."

Takeru stiffened, the sheer danger in Kurogane’s voice hitting him like a cold bucket of water. The man was an absolute pervert and a menace, yes—but he was also a yandere mafia lord who was clearly getting off on Takeru's defiance. Fighting back only seemed to entertain him.

'At least he's touching me like a pervert instead of pulling the trigger,' Takeru thought desperately, swallowing hard as Kurogane’s hand slid lower, resting possessively on his hip. Small victories...I guess.

"If...if your panther bites me," Takeru muttered, turning his head away to hide his flushed face and refusing to meet Kurogane’s piercing gaze, "I’m suing your entire pharmaceutical company."

Kurogane let out a dark, rich laugh that echoed through the vast penthouse, his fingers tightening around Takeru’s waist just a fraction more. "Deal, Takeru. Deal."
