Chapter 3- Bizarre predicament

It’s a rainy day, and so I decided to wear my jacket, a maroon one. I don’t have an umbrella, but my father took me inside the school to drive me in our classroom. Though, I don’t have good relationship with my father, I’m thankful because he’s so considerate (at that time, not always, just at that time).

I entered our room using the backdoor and suddenly, an idea popped out in my mind.

“I have a meat, and so I don’t need to go to the canteen today. There’s no need for me to stand up and walk today. Yes!”

Because it’s raining, it’s likely a habit of mine to took my nap. And fortunately some of our teachers are from the other buildings and so the heavy rain is an exemption for them to attend the class.

“Today is a miraculous day, I should sleep the whole day. Adios, ‘coz I will make the best comfortable sleeping position today.”, I tapped Justine and begin to find that best sleeping position.

But unfortunately, I thought I can find the best sleeping position. Before I start to tell you why I didn’t achieve my sleeping position is due to the reason that I am a rain lover. I love to smell the damp leaves, hearing the sound of the rain and watching the rain waters in the roofs. And so, I unconsciously go near the window, grab my seatmate’s chair and took gaze outside the classroom.

I also begin to read the books beside me and enjoys the moment of that day. Then, as I get bored easily, I took my nap.

While closing my eyes, all I can hear are the voices of my classmates and the sound of the rain. It’s so relaxing that it makes me fall asleep easily. Then, I took my good sleep (not a nap).

“Guys, Mrs. Mary is coming!”, yells one of my classmates.

I thought it’s still part of my dream, so I continued to took my nap but suddenly, someone grab my chair, and it somewhat frightened me as I thought someone is kidnapping me. I crouched and covered my ears…, “Please, forgive me!”

My classmates at the front row engage their point of vision on me. Justine grabs my hand and asks me worriedly, “May, wake up, are you okay?”.

Then, I slowly put down my hands and put a little smile in my face.

“Yes, thank you for waking me up, Justine.”

Mrs. Mary told us not to leave the room as the water is rising and here are her few announcements, “Okay, today do not leave your room. The dean is expecting for flood, and we cannot discharge all of you yet as it’s raining terribly hard. Just calm down and stay alert. Mr. President, please lead your classmates, okay?”

“Yes Ma’am!”, Bobby, the class president, answered Mrs. Mary politely.

I didn’t know how to read my classmate’s reaction. Are they worried because of the flood and heavy rain, or happy because the whole class get cancelled? As of mine, I am both happy and worried as I live few kilometers away. Kim approached me and invited me to eat lunch.

“Oh, it’s already 11:48 a.m., let’s eat then.”, I answered as if I never acted weird last time.

I took my lunch box out of my school bag and grab my chair to join my friends. We formed a circle and begin to dig our lunch.

“It looks like you have meat today, May, can I have a taste?”, asked Key.

“No.”, I answered coldly.

“Ehhh, just a little, I promise.”, she asked again.

And without hearing my answer, she took a little of my chicken’s skin and eat it directly.

“Oi, ugh, okay you’re welcome.”, I commented sarcastically.

“By the way May, you’re acting a bit strange today, is there something wrong?”, asked Justine.

She’s probably referring to my reaction last time. Actually, I also don’t know what exactly is happening to me. Every rainy day, I prefer to stay inside my room and took my sleep, but unfortunately that was my first time sleeping outside my room while raining very hard.

“Nothing, I guess I'm still half-asleep at that time.”, while pushing myself to laugh to make it sound like a joke or prank.
