Lacey sat on the edge of her bed unwrapping the towel from her head after getting out of the shower. She slid the strands of her tousled long brown hair in the towel drying it. A sigh wrung through the room as she sat dazed and thought about her dream.
Who was this person she kept hearing and seeing in her dreams? It had been eight years since he started first sneaking into her sleep and thoughts. It started the night of her 13th birthday after she fell asleep. At first, he would just speak to her and talk of pleasant things. He would ask how her day was at school and who her friends were.
Then as she got older and reached her 16th birthday his conversations with her began to change. He started to seduce her and her dreams became racy. Now, a week ago he came to her and said they would finally meet. He would see her on her 21st birthday. He claimed she was his destined lover and future wife.
Lacey didn’t know if she was excited or scared. For the longest time she thought he was just a figment of her imagination that she made up. Then at some point, she started to question her logic. If he was made up then why was he still talking to her after eight years?
Lacey sighed again as she realized she only had three days left until she found out the truth. What if he was real? What would she do when she met him? Also, how could he talk to her through her dreams? None of it made any sense and have been driving her crazy trying to figure it all out.
“Well I guess I’ll find out and the truth will be revealed to me in three days.”, Lacey spoke out loud to herself.
She threw herself back on her bed after brushing out her hair and snuggled under the blankets. It was time for sleep and she had some questions.
Lacey finally drifted off into slumber and found herself in a beautiful garden. She’d been here many times before in her dreams. It was the garden to the house he claimed belong to her and him. She sat on a bench next to a lake watching the swans swimming and making rebels across the water.
A hand gently touched her shoulder and squeeze lightly.
“You came to see me?”, he said to her.
Lacey looked over her shoulder and saw a tall dominating figure standing there. As always she couldn’t make out his face, but saw the rest of him.
“I have some questions to ask you.”, Lacey replied.
“What is it that you would like to know, love?”, he walked around the bench and sat down beside Lacey.
“Why can you finally show yourself to me on my 21st birthday?”, Lacey asked.
“You will finally awaken and become mine.”, he answered her honestly.
With a touch of fear in her voice Lacey asked, “Awakened....What do you mean awakened?”
He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close up against his body in comfort. “Don’t be frightened. There is something handed down from generation to generation in your family that has lain dormant in you. It will become active on your 21st birthday. Only then can I claim you for my wife. I have waited a very long time for you. You will save our people.”, he said proudly to Lacey.
Lacey sat next to him wrapped in his warmth mulling over everything he had just told her. Even though what he just told her frightened her greatly; she felt strangely comforted with him by her side. “Do I have special powers? Is that how I can hear you and speak to you right now in my dreams all these years?”, Lacey asked him.
“It’s more like psychic abilities. You also can cast magic spells once your body awakens. You come from a long line of enchantresses.”, he answered back.
“Why are you just telling me all of this now?”, Lacey questioned.
“You weren’t ready to know any of this until now.”, he said.
Lacey thought over what he said and then asked, “Then what about you? What are you then?”
He hesitated for a minute and then spoke, “You will know when we meet. I will explain everything to you then.”
Lacey tried to look at him once again, but still his face was a blur to her eyes. “Are you ugly? Is that why I have never been able to see your face? What if we meet and I don’t love you?”, Lacey asked.
He just laughed at her questions and then replied, “I am not hideous, no need to worry. I do have a small scar at the corner of my left eye from an old battle. However, you not loving me is impossible. Our souls have been intertwined since birth. We are made for each other.”
“Oh!”, is all Lacey could manage to answer as his lips came crashing down into hers. His hand moved to the back of her head threading his fingers into her hair and holding her into place as he deepened the kiss. Lacey‘s arms lifted up and wrapped around his waist holding him closer to her. Her body felt on fire and that tingling sensation she always got at his touch made its way between her thighs. She squeezed her legs tightly to ease the ache inside her.
Beep...beep...beeepppp!!!!!! Lacey‘s eyes shot open to the sound of her alarm clock going off for school. She slammed her hand down on the off button and pulled the covers back over her head groaning, “UGHH...it was just getting good. Stupid alarm clock!”, Lacey grumbled in frustration.
Her fingers went to her lips as she could still felt his lingering kiss from her dream. Begrudgingly, Lacey threw her legs over the side of the bed and stood up to get ready for school. College classes and Cara were waiting for her and she had an hour to get there. Lacey sighed and put thoughts of her mystery man into the back of her mind. Two days and I will finally see you and touch you in real life she thought as she rushed to get ready.
