Chapter 3

In a not too far off Place, the mystery man sat at his desk looking over important documents. Two more days he thought to himself impatiently. Two more days and I can finally touch and hold her in my arms. I have been waiting for so long and it will finally be here.

“Sir”, his thoughts were interrupted as his assistant walked into his office.

“What’s wrong Jacob?”, he asked.

Jacob looked nervous, “Sir, the Dragon clan is getting restless and causing trouble again. I don’t know how long we can hold them off.”

“Send more reinforcements and ask the Wolf clan to help us. We have to bide some time until my wife arrives soon to help us.”, he responded.

“Yes sir.”, Jacob answered and left the room quickly.

The mystery man leaned back in his chair and rubbed his temples. He was tired from staying up all night to talk to Lacey in her dreams. The energy it took to enter her dreams was wearing on his body physically. He needed sleep desperately, but was willing to wait until his wife’s sweet body was wrapped next to his in bed.

He remembered when his father had told him about his future wife. He was angry at first to know he had no choice or say in the process of picking his future lover. However, when he met her for the first time, she was this cute young girl with long brown hair and beautiful dark brown eyes.

He soon found himself excited and impatient to meet her in her dreams to see her again. He was six years older than her and thought she would mind, so he hid his face from her when he met her. He didn’t want her to know the age difference until they met.

He fell in love with her laughter and smile as she would excitedly tell him about her day at school and what she did with her friends. He loved the sound of her voice and her love for life and everyone in it.

Soon, years had passed and her body started changing as she got older. He started to notice her new curves and the sexy way she filled out her clothes. That’s when he lost control of himself and started to pursue her; even if it was just in a dream.

It drove him crazy that he couldn’t touch her in real life and could only take things so far. It was also frustrating when she would wake up in the midst of their trysts and leave him on his own. Those were the moments he would have to take cold showers to ease the ache of need coursing through his body.

Two days he repeated over and over to himself as he waited patiently. He sighed as he ran his fingers through his long dark straight hair. Lacey wasn’t only his future wife; she was the savior to their people. He was the leader of his clan and she was the missing piece to heal their people. The lives of their people depended on Lacey and himself. He hoped she would be able to handle such a huge responsibility and leave the life she had planned out for herself.

It was going to be a long journey to make her understand her importance to their people. Maybe he should have slowly explained all of this to her over the past few months instead of throwing it all at her in a few days before her birthday. Would she understand her responsibilities or would she rebuke them?

All he could do was hope she was compassionate enough to understand and trust him in the future. He sighed once more and rubbed his hand down his face. He closed his eyes still in thought and drifted off for some much-needed sleep.
