Chapter 5: The cookie boy and Karaoke for your heart

The same day at track club

“Ready set go!” the whistle was blown and the boy members of the track club started their daily run. “Masami, are you ready for the practice?” the other girls of the club asked. “Yes.” She stretched. “As today’s the boys turn to start the practice earlier it will take us some time.” “Yeah! That’s because the boys are more in the track club than the girls.” Ryoko said. “Masami- san sure looks good while running.” The other member said. “Who said so?” She asked. “The girls from the home economics club does.” They replied. “Oh! The first batch is over after this one it will be our turn soon.” Ryoko said. “The club activities will be over soon anyway so let’s give it our best,” Masami said. “We sure will.” They all cheered up.

“Alright! Girls, it’s your turn now. Remember what I taught you and do well. So! Ready set go!” The whistle was blown. All the girls started to run. Both Masami and Ryoko were neck to neck to the finish line. Ryoko increased her speed and secured first place. “You did well,” Ryoko said. “I would have almost beat you.” They took deep breaths. “I am sure you will win the next race.” Ryoko grim. “Let’s get some water.” They took their bottles and drank water. “Nothing is good than water after a run.” They said. “Okay everyone gathers up for the stretching.” The coach called them.

“Ryoko? Ichika texted me, she said that she will be going to karaoke with her and Hanabi. She asked if we would like to come.” “I’ll pass,” Ryoko said. “I knew you would say that. I will go anyways. It’s a good chance to sing.” She said and replied to Ichika. “Noguchi-san?” Ryoko looked. “Hey, that guy just called you.” Ryoko pointed. “Huh? Who?” Masami looked up. “Oh!” “Hello, Noguchi-san.” He greeted nervously. “Did you just call me?” She asked. “Yes, I did call you.” “Oh man, it’s been long since someone has called me by my surname.” She said.  Ryoko sensed something so, she said, “I will be going back home then. See you tomorrow and tell Ichika next time.” “Oh! Yeah, sure.” Masami replied. Masami looked at the guy and asked, “Is there something you want from me?” “Oh! Umm…Actually…I...I came to give…you this.” He showed her. “This is?” She asked. “This is, umm…for you. I hope you like them. I will take my leave.” He hands her over and ran away. She looked at him in dazed. “Huh? Is he okay? What is this anyway?” She opened the wrap. “Oh! Cookies.” She said and put one in her mouth. “It’s delicious.” Her phone started to ring. “Yes, Ichika.” From the other side, Ichika answered. “Where are you we are waiting for you at the school gate?” She asked. “Oh! I am sorry I will be there in a minute. Oh, you know what a guy came to me and gave me some delicious cookies.” Masami said. “Oh! Really, then give us some as well.” Ichika said. “Hmm, okay I will be there soon then. “ She hanged up.

At the karaoke Ichika, Hanabi, Masami, The forcefully bought by her friends Kyouko, Fumiko and Natsumi were there. “So, who will start first?” Masami asked. “Let’s see which song I should sing,” Natsumi said. “You guys choose first I will rap on this song of KTL.” Hanabi stood up. “Which song?” Ichika and Fumi asked. “Love is Sad.” She said. “Then, let’s sing together.” They said. The song started. And the first line was vocalised by Ichika and Fumiko. Then as the rap started Hanabi sang breathlessly. And soon after the song was over. “Who’s next?” They asked. “We will go.” Masami and Natsumi raised their hands. They sang a sodding song. “It’s getting boring,” Kyouko said. “Hanabi! You should not mind about him and enjoy him to your fullest right now. We are here for you today so, we should enjoy.” Ichika said.  “I don’t know.” She sighed.  “We are done who’s up this time?” They asked. “I will go.” Ichika took over the mic and played a party song. She started singing and looking at her the others joined as well. Kyouko took the shakers and Natsumi took the Tamarind. Looking at all excited. Hanabi started to loosen up a bit by bit. And they all sang five songs in a row.

After the time was over. “Oh! That was fun.” Masami said. “Yeah! It sure was.” Hanabi said. “Ryoko missed it all,” Natsumi said. “I felt high today even if we didn’t drink any alcohol,” Ichika said. “You guys were non-fire today.” Kyouko laughed and praised them. “Hanabi Senpai is so good at rapping,” Fumiko said. “I am just a nob still. By the way, thank you guys for cheering me up today.” Hanabi said. “What are friends for then,” Ichika said. “We should come again here next time as well,” Masami said. “OH! Do send me the pictures we took today alright.” Ichika said. “Yeah! I want them too.” “Alright, I will send it to you then.” Kyouko shared it with them.” “Thanks!” “I will post it now,” Fumiko said. “If you do then, don’t post any funny picture of us,” Ichika said. “Yeah! If someone from our class sees it they will make fun of us surely.” Kyouko said. “Alright! Alright, Senpai.”
