He texted me!

The next day, Avery woke up with a start. She took her breakfast and left for school. Outside her home, Emma and Lilly were standing. She greeted them but they didn’t reply. It was that to let her know that they were angry with her.

“Umm.... guys? Did I do something wrong?” Avery asked them because she knew that every time Emma and Lilly were angry with her they would appear outside her house but they wouldn’t talk to her.

“No.... you never do anything wrong. You are made of gold, didn’t you know that!?” Emma said in a sarcastic voice.

“What do you mean?” Avery asked.

“Drop the act Emma..... We are angry because—” Lilly said.

“Do you have your phone with you Avery?” Emma asked interrupting Lilly.

“Yes and what about it?” Avery asked taking out her phone from pocket.

“Go to your notifications and you will know why we are angry with you,” said Emma.

Avery opened the notification centre and there was a notification that made her insides scream.

“Oh My God!” Avery said excitedly.

“What are you excited for? We called you a billion times yesterday and you are excited for that?” Lilly said while trying to take a peek on Avery's phone.

“Wait what..... you guys called me yesterday, when? And you guys were angry that I didn’t pick up the call?” Avery asked them.

“Yeah. We called you after we reached home but you didn’t pick up!” Emma said looking confused. “But wait— if that notification wasn’t about our phone calls then .... what was the other notification about?”

“First I am really sorry for not picking up the phone because my phone's battery died and Second ..... AIDEN TEXTED ME. He texted me!!!” Avery said joyfully.

“Wha—t? Are you serious?” Lily asked.

Avery showed emma and Lilly her phone.

“Oh my—, reply back to him girl. What are you waiting for?” Emma said putting her arm around Avery's shoulder.

“How should I reply? Should I say hi or should I just type my name only?” Avery asked nervously.

“Avery, no need to be nervous. Just type whatever you want.” Lilly said encouragingly.

Avery took a deep breath and said,“Ok.....*typing* and sent”.

“What did you say?” Emma was really curious so she asked.

“I typed HELLO. I'M AVERY JACOB. SORRY I DID NOT SEE YOUR TEXT YESTERDAY.” Avery read them the text she wrote.

“Well, now all the problems are sloved, We should rush to the school or we are gonna be late!” Lilly said to Avery and Emma.

All three of them rushed to the school and fortunately reached school just in time. The day passed like usual. There was no anwer from Aiden. The exams were drawing close so all of the students were working hard. Avery assumed that Aiden must be working hard so he didn’t text her.

Days and weeks passed and finally the exam week started. All the exams were easy for Avery except for the Maths exam. Avery hated math from the depth of her heart. The last exam was of Math. It was a usual routine of Avery that the night before her maths exam, she always cried.

Aiden knew the crybaby side of her so the night before the maths exam he texted her, “Dont cry nor be sad. You will do great tomorrow! I trust you.” Reading this message, Avery was surprised.

The next morning Avery woke up with huge dark circles under her eyes. “What does he think he is? He wanted me to fail the exam didn’t he? How did he think I would be able to sleep after that message?” Avery was really frustrated and she started backbiting Aiden. Even though she had a crush on Aiden but still she used to think that career was important than love. So she didn’t mind murmuring bad stuff about Aiden. In the school, Emma and Lilly made fun of Avery for those big circles.

Comming out of the examination hall, Emma said, “Finally exams are over!”

“Yeah and now we have sports festival next week” Lilly said happily.

“Yeah and I’m going to sleep during that festival.” Avery was so tired from the exams that she could only think of sleeping.

“ yeah go get some sleep. And get rid of those dark circles under your eyes because you look scary just like a ghost” Emma didn’t stop mocking Avery.

Avery rolled her eyes on Emma and then said, “all these dark circles but I’m still prettier than you”.

“Hey!!” Emma said in an annoyed way. Lilly started laughing.

Suddenly Avery saw someone standing in front of her school gate. It was her dad’s secretary standing infront of her dad’s car. Why was he there to pick her up?
