I Met Him While Dreaming

It all started when I was five. I dream of a boy so of my age. First time when he showed up in my dream I thought it was normal to see an unknown person in dreams. and when he started showing off in my every dream. I was panicked...

I told my mom but she said it was normal but I was afraid of that boy. Yea, we often talked to each other in dreams but still, I was scared. if he did be exist in real I'm sure he would be a loner. a few months later he stopped showing off in my dreams. Finally, I was relieved.

now I'm 23 years old studying literature. I do lots of things and studying is of the thing. my mom owns a local restaurant, I help her sometimes when I'm free. I'm interested in books too and so much into romantic books. and I spend most of my time watching Animes and my mom thinks only boys can watch anime (whatever).

and I have a sister too who's 3 years younger than me and she lives in her fictional world. she marries and gets a divorce from a person that doesn't know her. I won't say anything about her but her name is "maiy".

my mom is a single mother she does everything she can do for us. I'm proud of her and love her but I hardly even show her my true feelings for her.

"Kathryn! Kathryn!"

I opened my eyes as I heard maiy yelling my name from downstairs. but I didn't bother to reply to her I just continued thinking.

when she heard nothing

she came to my room.

"Hey, miss," she said

I heard her but didn't reply because I was dreaming with my eyes open.

"come out from your imagination," she said.

I knew she was annoyed. I still said nothing just stared at her and rolled my eyes.

"what?" I asked (finally)

"mom asked you to go to the market" she answered.

" why me? what are you doing?" I asked

"I'm busy," she said

I rose from the bed I did my hair and stare at her

"busy in what? dreaming?" I asked

" no, not really," she said and went downstairs.

I know it's time for her favorite show. I went downstairs. I saw the list and purse lying on the table I took them and put them in my pocket.

I went out and closed the door behind me. everything felt so silent and my neighbors were less noisy than always. and I tried to recall the face of that boy of my dream but couldn't remember. all I could recall was his brown eyes and shiny black hair.

as I was walking down the street I thought If that boy exist how would he look now. will he be taller than me?. I kept thinking about him while I don't even know if he exist.

after a while of walking, I was here at the local market. I took out the list from my pocket and it says

: sweet potato

: cabbage

: Tomato

: green chili

I put the list back in my pocket and picked up the things as per the list.

"Kath!" I heard

I turned back it was aunty "Abby"

those who are very close to me or my family call me Kath but I like to be called Kathryn as it's my name.

"hi, aunty," I said

"How are you?" she asked

"I'm fine, how are you?"

"I'm good, Kath"

" Aah...you buying vegetables?..very good," she said noticing the jute bag I was holding.

"Yes, mom asked, she is busy at the restaurant" I replied

"Gianna is very busy these days, you should help her sometimes". she said

Gianna is my mom's name.

"Yes I will, " I said

" Gianna is very lucky to have such an obedient daughter like you," she said

I said nothing because I know we are lucky to have a mother like her.

"It was nice talking to you Kath, tell your mom to visit me sometime when she's free, okay?"

" Yes, aunty," I said

she smiled and pet my head.

I smiled back.

I was in the street going back to my home with a hand full of things. and I just kept thinking about the things said by aunty Abby.

after a while of walking my hands hurt I kept down the things for a while and pressed my right palm with my other hand.

I looked at my red swollen palm.

"need help?" a familiar voice

It was mert. aunty Abby's son.

"maybe" I smiled

he said nothing picked up the things and we walked together.

" How did you know I was here?" I asked him

"I didn't know you were here.." he said

making eye contact

"really?"(doubtful face)

"Aah...Kath stop!" he said breaking the contact

"Tell me, how did you know I was here," I said

"mom told me..."

I smiled and said nothing. he's a bad liar.

"how do you do that," he asked

"do what?"

" you caught me every time I lie to you," he said

"because I have known you for years," I said

"okay"

afterward, we were silent none of us spoke a word until I was at the front door of my house.

I kept things on the counter. and washed my hands.

TV was turned on maiy's favorite show was on repeat.it was some kind of interview I didn't bother to watch it.

"maiy, I'm turning off the TV..." I yelled

"NO...." I heard her voice coming out from the washroom.

once again I look at the TV. now it was a grey-haired guy on the TV screen. kinda attractive.

I went to my room. lie down on the bed and fall asleep.

"maiy!" I yelled

I opened my eyes it was too dark. I searched for my cellphone under my pillow. I turned on the flashlight.

I wore my slippers and went downstairs carefully. surely it was another prank of maiy I thought. I searched for the main switch but I couldn't find the switch. and went to another corner still couldn't find the switch.

after a while of searching, I finally found the switch. i turned on the lights.

"holy shit," I thought

my house looked damn different. that's why I had difficulty finding the switch.

if it's not my house where m I then? I thought

" maiy! mom!" I shouted as loud as I can but there's no response.

I was scared.

I dialed my mom's number but it says not reachable. I was scared and my eyes were filled with tears.

I sit down on the floor and tried to calm myself. I Said "Kathryn it's just a dream"

but this felt so real I couldn't calm myself anymore. I burst into tears, I cried...I knew I was all alone here.

"how am I going to stay without my mom," I said crying.

I heard footsteps. I stopped crying and hide behind the sofa there. and sneak out to see who was coming.
