Chapter 2

Two days have passed. Inside Centry Hill Apartments, Damon was talking to his father.

“Hey, Dad. Can I go to the park?” He asked his dad.

“Sure, kid. The only rule is to come back before nightfall. We will be leaving out earlier than normal in the morning.” He replied.

“Okay. See you later,” Damon said. He proceeded to walk out the door, stepping outside. He wondered if Diamond would be at the park today. He was fascinated with her. She was so beautiful and unique. She had green hair which made him like her even more. He had weird hair and she did too. All he could think about was if he was going to see Diamond today.

*3 blocks over @ the same time*

“Mom, I’m going to the park now. I’ll me sure to be back before supper,” said Brandon.

“Okay, honey. I’ll see you later,” said his mother. Her name was Linda Hall.

Brandon ran out the door. He was running so fast that he bumped into a kid blue hair outside.

“Ouch,” said the kid. He rubbed his head and wondered why that kid had gray hair.

“Sorry bro & I have gray hair because I was born like this. Why do you have blue hair, huh?” Asked Brandon.

The other kid couldn’t believe that it slipped out of his mouth. “Sorry. Just watch where you’re going next time bro.”

“Yea you got it,” said Brandon.

They kept walking. Both were quietly on their way to the park but they didn’t know that.

“Are you following me, kid?” asked Brandon.

He replied, “What? No way. I’m on my way to the park. Aren’t you following me?”

“No. But hey since we’re both going to the park, we might as well get know each other. I’m Brandon Hall. What about you?” Said Brandon.

“I’m Damon Crass. I just moved here to Centry Hill Apartments.” Said Damon.

Brandon: “Oh, cool. So I guess that means I’ll be seeing you more often. We should hang out.”

Damon: “Yeah. You lost definitely will and sure.”

They both arrived at the park and found Diamond staring at the butterflies. They both took steps towards her at the same time. They noticed that they were going in the same direction so they stopped to look at each other. In unison, they both asked each other, “Do you know her?” Then they answered in unison, “Yes.” The competition started from there, at such an early age. I don’t know what makes boys so competitive but they raced to Diamond. They thought it couldn’t be true that that they arrived to her at the same time. Diamond was shocked when she saw those two weird haired boys run up to her. She laughed lightly.

Diamond: “Hello you two. Brandon and Damon, isn’t it?”

They both nodded to her question.

Diamond: “Where’s your sister today? You didn’t wander off on her again, did you?” She was about to stand up but sat back down at his reply.

Brandon laughed and stated that he was alone today.

Damon coughed to interrupt their conversation, “So I noticed that you like butterflies. Does that mean you come here often?”

Diamond: “Yes I do. I love butterflies. They are so beautiful & it keeps me busy since dad is busy working and mom is occupied with cleaning.” She smiled while answering.

In unison, they both said, “I do too.”

The competition may have started before but this is where it officially began.

Diamond laughed and said, “Okay. That’s great. We can all be friends now. Maybe even best friends.”
