The Day We Met

—Diamond’s POV—***

It was in a beautiful, luscious garden on the day of April second when I was 6 years old. I was fascinated with butterflies at this age as was any other girl my age..

I was admiring this gorgeous butterfly when all of a sudden I heard a soft cry. It was a girl ,younger than I, coming up to me and she tugged on my shirt.

Her name was Shay & she told me how she was upset that she couldn’t find her brother. So naturally, I helped to look for him.

Luckily we found him under a tree reading a book, and I thought he was cute to be a boy—but I found it strange he had gray hair.

It was odd for a boy our age to have gray hair, so I just stared at it. I was so entranced that I didn’t hear Shay say thank you, nor did I hear her trying to introduce me.

She tugged me, “Sis, this is my brother Brandon and bro this is ummmm... what’s your name?” Shay tapped me again, but I was staring at her brother so she just laughed lightly.

“I can introduce myself Shay and my goodness where have you been this whole time & why on earth did you bring an odd stranger this way?” *Brandon’s inner thoughts: She’s totally staring at my hair.*

“Bro don’t be so mean. She helped me find you,” I said while smiling a big one

“I was staring cause I think the color of your hair is strange mister. I just wanted to help Shay, but now that it’s done, I should get going so mom won’t be mad.” I said.

“Oh well sis thank you. Maybe we can play next time.” Shay said.

*Brandon’s inner thoughts: Now that I think about it, she is cute. I wonder if she’s my age. She looks like she could be. I was staring and didn’t hear any of the words being exchanged between those two. I saw her smile though.*

“By the way, my name is Diamond. And I would love to play next time.” I waved goodbye and started to walk off when suddenly her brother said something .

“Well thanks for helping my sister.” He rubbed the back of his neck while saying so.

He looked so shy while rubbing his neck and it was so cute. I just wanted to laugh so I giggled a little. “How old are you?” I asked.

Brandon’s inner thoughts: Why was she laughing. I don’t understand.* She asked our ages, “I’m 6 & she’s 3.”

“Oooo I’m 6 too & next time don’t wander too far from your sister.” I ran away wondering maybe if I’d see them any other time. I stopped to look at the butterflies once again before I left.

To my surprise there was a boy holding a butterfly on his index finger.

*Damon’s inner thoughts: I’d seen a very pretty girl walking up to me. I could tell she was interested in the butterfly on my finger and curious to know how.*

“Hi” He said to me.

“Hello I haven’t seen you before.” I replied.

He also had strange hair. I was wondering what was going on today. His hair was blue. “what’s your name?” I asked.

“I’m Damon Crass & I’m new around here. We just moved here actually around the corner and I wanted to explore my new surroundings. What’s your name?” He responded.

He sounded so smart . “I’m Diamond and I live around the corner too. I think this garden is so pretty and the butterflies too. They make me happy.”

“I was on my way home and wanted to see the garden before I left . I’ll be on my way now. See you around, Damon.”

I was in for a little news now after but that’s how this all started.
