Episode 3 "A life of my own"

Twa's a great morning to start the day. Birds were chirping, horses are out in the yard and puppies were playing around in a slightly moised grass from last nights down pour. The sun rises, lighting up the cozy house, the wooden red barn and the whole land. Clinton was taking a sip of his black coffee staring outside the window enjoying the beautiful sunshine, its been 3 months now since he got out from the hospital and been staying on his grandfather's farmhouse eversince. He's keeping up and still on the process of living his new lifestyle.

Krug.. Krug.. Krug. The sound and the image of an old pickup truck drove by his grandfather is drawing near. A perfectly built man on his 70's wearing an old cowboy hat a shade and leather boots, got off from the truck. Clinton wheeled towards the door and greeted his grandpa who just got back from the neighbouring farm. He brought back fresh crops and a brand new saddle for their oldest horse named Sunday. He was Clinton's best friend since childhood, he was a gift from his grandparents when he turned 7.

"Morning son." his grandpa greeted him and took off his shades showing its pair of deep blue eyes as the sun reflects on it.

"Morning paw' want some coffee?" he greeted back and offered a mug of his black coffee with pride. his grandpa took a sip and exaggeratly express his love on coffee.

"Gooodness... That was so good!" he commented and took another sip.

"paw paw, don't forget that's.. - my coffee" he joked. He took one last sip and gave up the coffee back on his grandson.

"Sneeky brat, why do you always offer me a sip but never a full mug?" he demanded, and started unloading the truck.

"I'll.. make you one. - only if you allow my request" he demanded. His paw paw stopped for a second and put down the bag of seed back on the truck, he walked closer to Clinton sat down the wooden bench beside him, and took off his cowboy hat revealing his short gray hairs, rested his back and released a deep sigh..

"Now, that sounds like an old man being robbed" said Clinton, and he looked over Sunday who's currently tied on the wooden fence eating grass. He took a sip of his coffee until he finished. His grandpa remained seated hand on his pocket, he did not talk for a minute and finally spoke when Clinton put down the empty cup next to him.

"Technically speaking, I'm indeed being robbed.. He said and wipe off bits of sweats running down his forehead '..you're robbing me the precious time this old man wants to spent with you." he frowned, emotionally speaking.

Clinton looked at him and moved a little closer. He took the cowboy hat his grandpa holds on his other hand. he played with it, and as he flip he saw the faded words saying "Best grandpaw ever! " and a tiny cowboy drawing beneath it. Smiling as he remember the old days back when he was just 7-years-old. Used to be so close with his grandparents especially his pawpaw, always clinging on him and often go to church. was the apple in everyone's eyes, and at such a young age he was way intelligent and the youngest to ride a horse on his own, so on his seventh birthday he received Sunday. They ride him everyday with his pawpaw. And spend almost all day time tagging along while his grandpa do crops.

"That hat was your favorite, it does not fit your head but you insist on wearing it.." grandpa continues

Chuckles "Yeah, I remember" he agreed and put the hat over his head.

"I don't know what's on your mind that you insist on living alone, and I remember clearly that I disagree with that decision of yours" he said.

"Paw, I understand that your worried about me, but I'm no longer a kid. I can handle myself now, I just want to do something without the help of anyone and to prove myself I can do better even if I'm already like this" he answered.

"You should know that I'm not getting any younger myself, I only wish my remaining days and years be spent with a grandson who wandered alone for a long time, that he missed the road and almost not make it home" he stated, looking so down

Looking at his grandpa he can't help but to feel sorry towards him and himself. From being a good grandson to a nuisance and a great pain in the head. And now slowly becoming a burden, he didn't want to continue feel like it. So he kept insisting on moving out all on his own. He doesn't want him to continue feeling down anymore so he thought of making him feel assured that he'll be okay.

"Your not gonna die any sooner paw, don't talk that way, and besides. The place that I plan to move in is not that far from here. Its merely 20 km away, should be less than an hour by car we'll still be under the same zip code" he chuckled as he explained and insist the decision he came up with.

"Oh' Clinton you and your excuses are really hopeless. That just proves that my blood runs in your very veins, your mother has it. that explains why you had it" he shook his head once more, can't believe he has a grandson this smart to persuade him with such lame excuses.

"Ha-ha! That's the answer deserving of my special cup of strong black coffee" Clinton smiled from ear to ear showing his perfectly white teeth declaring he had won the dispute.

"Goodness, out of all you could inherit? " he shook his head one last time, put on the shade back on and finally got up the wooden bench and continue unloading the truck.
