Ch. 1

My life is pretty boring.

I don’t have friends, i don’t socialize, i don’t make an effort to put myself out into the world. My routine consists of waking up, getting myself ready, eat, go to school, come back from school, eat something real quick, get ready for work, go home, eat, sleep and… repeat. I have been doing this my whole life, i don’t mind though. I somehow feel okay being like this, i think.

My parents you ask? Well… they are divorced, they of course live separate. So the holidays tend to be a little… complicated to say the least. I live with my mother due to the judge saying. But i would prefer to live with my father, he would at least take care of me more than what my mother has. My mother got a new boyfriend and i don’t really like him that much, i get weird vibes from him. But i know my mother would put her lovers before me so i don’t say really anything.

Today is pretty quiet, no a lot of costumers are coming in. I only see a customer trying to calm down their toddler while holding their baby, i see another customer reading a book while drinking their coffee, i see a couple feeding each other’s mini cake, yuck.

i hear the bell ring. Indicating someone came in. I look to see who had came in, a tall blonde gorgeous girl, had entered the room. She’s wearing red crop-top with black jeans.

She makes her way to me, i don’t know why but i got nervous. she’s just a customer but different from any customer.

“Hi, what would you recommend?” She says, looking at me. I get lost in her greenish eyes, i must’ve zoned out for a minute because she started to call out to me, I quickly pulled myself back together. “Um i’m sorry, what was your order again?” I embarrassingly replied back, pulling my eyes away from hers.

“I said what would you recommend” She smiles softly, not taking her eyes away from me.

“Oh ! well todays specials are…” I start to look for todays menu, i can feel her eyes are still on me, which makes me even more nervous than i already am, damn it why am i so damn nervous. ”ah found it! sorry about that,” She lets out a chuckle and i can feel my cheeks warm up

“today’s special is a molten strawberry lava cake.” I take the courage to look back at her and for the first time in 10 years, i smile.

“Awesome, i would like to take one along with a strawberry milkshake thank you.” I nod and get her cake packed and ready. “Would that be for here or to go?” I ask

“uhh-” She checks her watch real quick “To go please” I nod once again, she takes out her card ready to pay.

“Your total will be 13.95” She nods and puts her card on the machine. “alright please wait 10 minutes i’ll be right back with your strawberry milkshake” I smile at her once again and she smiles back at me, i feel my cheeks getting hotter, i quickly made my way to the back room to start making her milkshake.

Once i was done with her milkshake, i go back to the front and i see her sitting down reading a book from the café’s bookshelf. I didn’t expect her to be a book person, i get her things ready and i was about to call her but then i remembered that i didn’t ask for her name, how stupid i am. I’ve done this millions of times, why am i so out of it today? I want to face palm myself but i don’t want to embarrass myself even more. I let out a sigh and make my way towards her, i lightly tapped her shoulder.

She turns around, “Sorry, i forgot to ask your name so i came here instead,” I smile embarrassed putting my hand on my neck and not making eye contact with her but she laughs, i couldn’t help but to look at her, god even her laugh is beautiful.

“My name is May” She gets up and grabs her bag and milkshake “That’s a beautiful name.” We make eye contact, she lets out a smile, She glances at my name tag. “likewise, Lucy” my face turns red “And thank you, have a beautiful day lucy.” She said my name not once but TWICE. It’s not something to be so happy about but i can’t help but melt. I’ve never felt this way, ever. And it might be the first time my heart skips a beat too.

she makes her way out, she turns to look at me once more, smiling, and i can’t help but smile at her too. i wave goodbye at her and with that she left.

Now i feel… i don’t know what i’m feeling… but whatever i felt when she was here, i no longer have that feeling. I wonder if she’s going to come back again. Today, my life wasn’t that boring. I really hope i get to meet her again. I really hope she comes back to the cafe.

I heard the bell ring, i sigh, another customer came in. And with my that my day continues, but this time, i was thinking about her, just the thought of her makes me smile. She’s really beautiful.

“What would you like to order?” I start to attend the customer.
