Working sure isn’t easy. Sigh, even though I’m currently working three different part time jobs , it isn’t enough to pay up my due rent.

That old man will soon throw all my things out if I’m not careful enough....

I thought all these things to myself after walking into my apartment in a lazy manner .

please let me sleep. I throw myself on my creaky student bed and take out my phone from my pocket.

“ Oh oh, if it’s not the most popular drunk gambler in town . To what do I owe the pleasure?”

This old guy that I’m speaking to casually is actually my adoptive father, ever since he lost his pregnant wife to an accident, he had totally lost all form of sanity. And soon after that he began to drink, spending all his life savings on gambling never caring about the little girl that was suffering in his house . Soon enough I got the hang of his stupid character and began to beg in the streets to survive, yet any money I make from begging, he takes it to gamble.

“ Oh sweet daughter, I know you care a lot for me right and I know you must have saved a lot. Why don’t you give it to this old man and I’ll-“

“ Ahjussi... do you think I’m eight years old? Let me tell you something, I’m so broke right now that I’m not seeing straight. I’m not that dumb Soo-yeon again, so let this be the last time you’ll call me for something like this , now get the f**k out.” Line disconnects and I stare at the screen of my phone with a heavy sigh.

This isn’t a sign of sadness, it’s a sign and sigh of poverty and right now I’m soaked in poverty.

If only I could see a rich knight in shining armor that would just sweep me of the floor of poverty and place me on a white horse of wealth.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

The only way for a poor person to smile is to see money, touch money and most times make unimaginable delusions. And that is how I’ve been living .

Except for the entire idea about money.

“ DEAR SOO YEON KANG, YOUR LOAN OF 30,000 WON WILL BE DUE BY MONDAY , PLEASE PAY UP BY TOMORROW.”

“****Aishh, just why?! Why is my suffering this extreme?! Who have I offended to suffer this much? Just why?” I say as I cry into the pillow until I felt the wave of sleep wash over me.

I guess there’s no food this night again.

TUESDAY, THE FOLLOWING WEEK.

Successfully I had borrowed another loan to pay my due debt yesterday and now I’m off to my morning job which starts from 9 am- 12pm and what is this job all about? It’s about me walking a retired woman’s dog and I’m really enjoying it. The after job is just me working in a convenience shop where I eat free food and the night job is me working as a bartender in a club . I go to the bus stop and wait for the bus to arrive while seating on the bench.

“ You’ve got this Soo yeon, there’s still hope for you!” I say to myself even though it’s useless because I really have no hope.

RING. RING. RING. Who could be calling me?

I check my phone screen and see the caller ID which happens to be the number of my best friend.

“ Hae-in , I was certainly not expecting your call.”

The bus comes just in time and I board it just after an old man had entered. I paid for the fare and go sit beside a window.

“ Kang soo yeon! I’ve missed you so much. But that can be solved because I’m now bavk in the country! Where are you? Let’s hang out if you’re less busy.” Hae-in speaks happily.

Joo Hae In, daughter of the Joo family and this family happens to be one of the most influential and wealthy family in Seoul . As far as I know theyare ranked third in the hierarchy of wealthy families and there are only five families.

Cha family, Kim family, Joo family , Jung family and the most feared,influential and wealthy family is the Seo family.

They basically rule the entire Korea .

“ Soo yeon?”

“ Ah sorry I was carried away. Sure let’s hang out when I’m free , what do you say tomorrow evening?” I suggest and she agreed and our call ended.

How I became friends with her is still unknown to me but I glad.

To not embarrass her, I have to get rich and I must no matter what.
