"Second place is the place for the biggest loser"
Always being second place is the most painful place to be growing up.
Once you reach second place you will feel like the biggest loser, as you will be constantly pressured to surpass the first place and need to best others...
Everyone envies you ,yet they also compare you to the first place...... let me ask you this why is silver never good enough? Yet bronze is ok and gold is what everyone strives for....
For gold is the reward for the most exceptional, bronze is the prize for the one who tried their best to earn the spot, then there is silver the reminder that you were so close, yet you fell one step short.
Obtaining gold feels like you have attained everything the people's praises, envy, expectations and hopes, reaching bronze fills you up with excitement and fulfillment as knowing you can improve much more in the future as reaching bronze is a wake-up call for your potential, stuck at silver leaves you wondering what you missed, why did you fall short and being struck with disappointment knowing you had the biggest chance for gold yet never reached your peak, it is the biggest reminder that you had so much potential, yet you never succeeded.
After being at second place for such a long time you've learned to compromise and never expect, you have come to the realization that you will never beat gold and that you should settle for "ok na yan" and forget "magiging successful ako". After all that is what you are seeing in their eyes, you feel like there is a void you cannot fill, and you just watch as that ember inside you slowly but surely gets put out.
You feel like you're worthless after years of trying to improve yet never reaching the peak of your potential. You've settled for enough or less and forgot to dream big, you tell yourself that "someday maybe in another life I will achieve first place" but you already know inside that you are already burned out that all your passion and ambitions have already been spent in anguish knowing that you've already run out of time, you are no longer trying because what is the use of trying if all they are going to say is that you never did your best and that you never put an effort even though you did try, that's what you've been doing all your life.
Yet all they see are your flaws, your mistakes, your shortcomings they never notice your pain, your effort, and they ignore your soul slowly dying from failure.
Maybe if you've never reached for the top? Maybe if you were satisfied being average? Maybe if bronze was enough to sate your hunger ? Then would've your well-being stay safe from this anguish that torments your mind inside-out?
Let me tell you the answer to that
My answer is: No your mind would've not stayed safe either way as it is human nature to strive for the light at the top. You would have blamed yourself anyways saying "why did I never tried? WHY why why why?" my only opinion is try to shake off that pressure and look around you try to ignore the sea that hurls its violent waves of criticism towards you and you'll see the home that awaits you with warm light and love that fills you with cozyness. Always remember that there is always someone that is proud of you , if you can't find them then be that someone for yourself as the greatest pillar for success is knowing your self worth and loving yourself no matter what.
