Whispers Behind the Glass

Whispers Behind the Glass

Whispers behind the glass

It was raining hard. Thunder roared as I sat at my table, writing stories.

Suddenly the lights went out. Darkness swallowed the room.

I lit a candle. The candle's flickering cast dancing shadows, making the room feeling strangely warm and alive.

That's when I felt - like someone was watching me. I looked around. I saw a shadow flicker near the corner. My heart pounded as I stared, but when I looked again nothing moved. Or maybe... Something was hiding just out of sight.

A chill ran down my spine. Was in just my imagination, or was something here with me?

I bought this mansion a few days ago, but already it felt less like home and more like a secret was to be uncovered.

I knew I saw something. I swear it moved.

After that, I set down my pen, heart thudding.

I felt thirsty and reached for my water bottle. But it was empty.

Just then, the door creaked open on its own. A cold shiver ran down my spine. Feeling unsure, but I forced myself to move towards the kitchen.

That's when I heard it. A whisper cutting through the silence. The mansion was otherwise still, except for those eerie voices.

I followed them, as if my body wasn't my own, the whispers pulling me forward. They led me to a room, long forgotten - dusty, untouched for years. The air was heavy, goosebumps spread across my skin as the whispers grew louder.

The door groomed as I pushed it open. Inside, dust coated every surface.

Rain lashed against the windows, under echoing in the distance as shadows crawled across the walls.

And there, standing against the far wall, was an old mirror. The mirror was wrapped in pale and gray fabric - untouched, unseen and whispering secrets.

I felt drawn to it.

I pulled the cloth away. Dust flew into the air and I sneezed.

The mirror's surface was cracked and dirty, but something about it caught my eye. I stared.

The candlelight flickered. Shadows danced across the glass.

I saw a face. Not mine.

It stared into me, deep, like it knew me.

I blinked - gone.

My heart pounded in my chest. Was the mirror showing me… Or something/ someone else?

I was trembling with fear.

Then everything went dark.

When I opened my eyes, I was still in the room. Nothing had changed or so I thought.

I heard a voice.

"Novish! Novish!" Mira?

Then I heard Raisa too - calling my name, crying louder than anyone.

I heard my mom sobbing. My dad was talking to someone.

I turned towards the mirror.

And what I saw froze me.

There I was, lying still. Eyes closed. No sign of life.

My parents, friends - Raisa and Mira - and the doctor was there.

They were standing around me. But not with me.

They were outside. I was inside.

Trapped behind the glass, silent and invisible, while the world outside the glass went on without me.

I screamed cried. But they couldn't hear me. No one could.

No matter how loud I scream... I'll always be just a whisper behind the glass.
