STORY OF A DIFFERENT WORLD
The city lights of Kuala Lumpur sparkled like a constellation fallen to earth, but beneath the glimmer of the metropolis, shadows moved silently. Faiz, known in the streets as one of Malaysia’s most feared mafia heirs, walked with a calm that belied the storm inside him. To the world, he was untouchable cold, calculating, untamed. Yet, there was a cold he lived by, a sense of honor buried deep within the violent life he inherited.
But life had a strange way of twisted fate. His grandfather’s estate in a quiet small town outside of Kuala Lumpur became the reluctant refuge when Faiz needed to escape a brewing war in the city. It’s was there, among winding streets and houses that smelled of old wood and jasmine, that he first saw her.
Her name was Amina. A university student home for the holiday’s she moved with quite grace, a gentle dignity that made her seem almost untouchable. She speaks little, but her eyes dark, curious, and cautious held a world. Faiz hadn’t expected to find. The first time their paths crossed, she was in the small library of his grandfather’s house, carefully flipping through a worn book, her presence calm and distant, yet impossible to ignore.
Faiz felt it immediately the pull, the spark that had never touched his life before. A world of violence and power he knew so well suddenly seemed shallow compared to the gravity of her gaze. She was an enigma, a quiet light in the shadows of his life, and for the first time, he felt the dangerous thrill of wanting someone not for control, but for love.
But this time was a different world. His world the one of secrets, deals, and danger, could never easily touch hers. And her world the one of studied, family, and dreams was fragile against the storm he carried with him. Yet, something deep inside him whispered that meeting Amina was no accident. That this quiet girl, so distant yet so pure, might be the only anchor strong enough to hold the chaos of his life and perhaps, change it forever.
After that first encounter at his grandfather’s estate, Faiz couldn’t get Amina out of his mind. Every corner of his world seemed to remind him of her: the curve of her hijab framing her soft features, the quiet way she carried herself, the unspoken dignity in her gaze. It was unlike anything he had felt before a pull he both feared and curved.
When Amina returned to selangor for university, faiz found himself following from a distance. He was careful, silent, like a shadow in the city’s chaotic rhythm. At the university, he watched her from afar, noting how she lingered in the library, always respectfully of other’s space. At the cafe where she studied between classes, he observed her small gestures how her fingers traced the rim of her cup thoughtfully. Even at the university, the gym, where she moved with a quite focus, he stayed far enough away to remain unseen, yet close enough to feel a strange sense of connection.
He didn’t approach her not yet. Part of him wanted to, desperately, but another part feared disrupting the delicate balance of her life. She was innocent in ways he could never be, a light untainted by the shadows he carried. He told himself it was enough to see her, to protect her from afar if danger ever came, even if she never knew he existed.
And yet, every moment he watched, the line between admiration and obsession blurred. Faiz knew this life he led the life of whispered deals, hidden violence, and unbreakable codes. Was a world away from hers. But somewhere deep inside began to believe that maybe, just maybe, two such different lives could intersect… and change everything.
