Two weeks.
Fourteen nights of punching the walls, cold showers, and waking up with Reo’s name stuck in his throat.
Kaito was nineteen and he was falling apart..
He told himself he was done.
He took every dirty job he could find, broke bones, bled, drank until he forgot the taste of smoke and sweet wine.
But every time his phone lit up, his stupid heart jumped, hoping it was him.
Tonight it finally was.
Unknown number:
Rooftop. LUX. 1 a.m. Come alone. – R
Kaito stared at the screen until the letters burned.
He threw the phone, picked it up again, cursed, and went.
The rooftop door opened with a loud creak.
Cold wind and rain slapped his face.
Tokyo sparkled far below like broken glass.
Reo was already there, leaning on the railing.
Black suit soaked, chocolate-brown hair wet and messy, falling over those steel-grey eyes...
He looked too beautiful to be real.
Kaito stopped five steps away, fists clenched.
Kaito: “What do you want?”
Reo turned slowly, cigarette glowing red between his fingers.
Reo: “I missed you, my little wolf.”
The words hit harder than any punch.
Kaito’s chest hurt.
Kaito: “stop it..... I’m not your toy.”
Reo dropped the cigarette, crushed it under his shoe, and walked forward.
Slow... Confident. Rain slid down his sharp jaw.
Reo: “You came.”
Kaito: “Only to tell you to stay away.”
Reo stopped so close Kaito had to look up.
192 cm of pure danger staring down at him.
Reo lifted one hand and brushed cold fingers across Kaito’s cheek.
Reo (soft voice): “Liar. You came because you couldn’t stay away.”
Kaito slapped the hand hard.
Kaito: “Don’t touch me!”
Reo didn’t even flinch. His smile was small, dark, knowing.
Reo: “Your mouth says no. Your eyes keep begging.”
Kaito stepped back, breathing fast, rain mixing with the heat on his face.
Kaito: “if it's all what you wanna say, I’m leaving.”
He turned.
Reo’s voice cut through the storm.
Reo: “Walk away now, and I won’t call again. Ever.”
Kaito froze.
The wind screamed.
His heart screamed louder.
He stood there for ten whole seconds, shoes soaked, fists shaking.
Kaito (quiet, broken): “…I hate you.”
Reo: “I know.”
Rain poured harder.
Kaito’s shoulders fell.
He turned around slowly.
Kaito: “Why did you did this to me?”
Reo opened his arms wide, rain running down his strong chest.
Reo: “Because you let me.”
Kaito walked straight into him.
He hated himself, hated how right it felt.
Reo’s big arms closed around him like steel and safety.
Reo’s hand slid into Kaito’s wet black hair, stroking gently.
Reo (whisper against his ear): “Good boy... I’ve got you.”
Kaito buried his face in Reo’s wet shirt and said nothing.
For the first time in two weeks, he could breathe.
