The penthouse was quiet except for the rain outside.
Kaito sat on the edge of the huge bed, wearing Reo’s black hoodie.
His own wet clothes were gone (Reo had taken them to dry).
Now he was only in the hoodie and his boxers.
He felt small. He felt trapped. He felt safe. He hated all three.
Reo stood by the window, back turned, lighting a new cigarette.
The flame lit his sharp face for a second.
Kaito hugged his knees.
Kaito: “I can still leave.”
Reo didn’t turn around.
Reo: “Door’s not locked.”
Kaito looked at the door. Then back at Reo.
Kaito: “…You know I won’t.”
Reo smiled, was small, and blew smoke at the glass..
Reo: “I know.”
He walked over slowly, standing in front of Kaito.
Reo: “Look at me.”
Kaito looked up. Grey eyes were soft tonight....
Reo reached down and touched Kaito’s cheek.
Reo: “You’re shaking.”
Kaito: “because I’m cold.”
Reo took off his own wet shirt in one move.
Strong chest, hard abs, scars here and there.
He threw it away, then climbed onto the bed.
Reo- want me to warm you up??! *In husky voice*
Kaito’s breath stopped.
Reo pulled Kaito down gently until they were lying face to face.
Reo: just joking now, come here....
He opened his arms.
Kaito hesitated… then crawled into them....
Reo’s body was warm. Strong. Safe...
Reo wrapped him up tight, one arm under Kaito’s head, one around his waist.
Kaito hid his face in Reo’s neck.
Kaito (tiny voice): “Just tonight.”
Reo kissed his forehead.
Reo: “Just tonight.”
They stayed like that a long time.
No kissing. No touching more. Just holding.
Kaito’s shaking slowly stopped.
Reo’s fingers drew slow circles on Kaito’s back, under the hoodie.
Reo (whisper): “Sleep, little wolf.”
Kaito closed his eyes.
Kaito: “…Don’t leave before I wake up.”
Reo’s arms got tighter.
Reo: “Never.”
Kaito believed him.
He fell asleep to the sound of Reo’s heartbeat and the rain.
When he woke up hours later, sunlight was coming through the window.
Reo was still there.
Still holding him.
Watching him with soft grey eyes.
Reo brushed hair from Kaito’s face.
Reo (quiet): “Morning.”
Kaito’s face went red. He tried to hide again.
Reo laughed low and pulled him closer.
Reo: “Too late to run now.”
Kaito didn’t answer.
He just pressed closer and let himself stay.
Outside, Tokyo woke up.
Inside, two broken boys held each other like the world couldn’t touch them.
The next day....😸
Morning light filled the penthouse.
Kaito woke up warm for the first time in years....
Reo’s heavy arm was still around his waist, fingers resting on his stomach under the hoodie.
Kaito tried to move.
Reo’s arm tightened.
Reo (sleepy, rough voice): “Five more minutes.”
Kaito’s heart jumped.
He stayed still.
Five minutes later, Reo kissed the back of Kaito’s neck and let go....
End of Chapter 5....
