Chapter 3: A Twist of Fate

As Kayden watched Shree walk back to the counter, a faint smile lingered on his face. He

hadn’t expected the day to turn out this way. Meeting her again felt like a rare twist of fate—

like a moment of light shining through a chapter of his life that had long been filled with

darkness.

Kayden Davis was the only son of a billionaire, raised in luxury, but it was a life tainted by

pain. His mother, the only source of love and warmth in his life, had passed away when he

was a teenager. Her death shattered him. Shortly after, his father remarried their family’s

secretary, a manipulative woman who brought her own son into the family.

From the moment she stepped into their home, Kayden's new stepmother saw him as a threat.

Her hatred for him grew over time.

Kayden decided to leave everything behind. He fled to Japan, seeking solace in the quiet

streets and the peace it offered. His days were spent wandering, exploring the city with his

camera, capturing moments that spoke more than words ever could. Yet, the scars from his

past followed him, making it difficult to trust anyone.

All Kayden wanted was peace. He longed for a fresh start, a life far from the shadows of his

toxic family. And though he hadn’t dared to hope, a small part of him held onto the possibility

that he could build a new life, one free from pain and betrayal.

It was then that he saw her.

Kayden first noticed Shree at the airport. The world seemed to blur around him, and in that

moment, she was all he could see. She stood there, a vision of grace, her dark eyes filled with

excitement and warmth. Her long hair, gently swaying in the breeze, caught the light as if it

had a life of its own. And her smile—it was so bright, it felt as though the sun had decided to

shine just for her.

She stood tall, yet so graceful, with a presence that was both strong and gentle. What struck

him the most, however, was how effortlessly she seemed to radiate happiness. As she waved

goodbye to her family, her face full of love, Kayden couldn’t help but be drawn to her. Her

eyes sparkled with unspoken emotions, and when she playfully blew a flying kiss to her

mother, her smile was so genuine that it felt like a warm embrace.

There was something magnetic about her. Every movement, every soft expression, felt like an

invitation to understand her, to get closer. It was as if she carried an energy that made the

world feel a little lighter, a little brighter.

When Kayden next saw her, it was on the airplane. She was sitting next to him, and without

hesitation, she asked, “Are you okay?”

It felt as if she had somehow read his heart—an unspoken understanding passed between

them in that simple question. His life had been full of hardships, and for so long, there had

been no hope. But here, in this moment, with her kind eyes and gentle words, something

stirred within him.

He had never expected to meet her, never expected to feel this way again. But fate, it seemed,

had its own plans.
