Chapter 4: The Beginning of Something Beautiful

As the evening descended, Shree felt a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling inside

her. It had been a year since she first met Kayden on that flight, and now, at last, they were

about to share a moment beyond fleeting glances. There was something about him that drew

her in, something she couldn’t ignore.

Shree arrived at the cozy restaurant with a bouquet of two sunflowers and white lilies in her

hand. The warm glow of the lights inside softened the chill of the evening, filling her with a

sense of possibility. She clutched her phone, checking it repeatedly to ensure she hadn’t

missed any messages from Kayden.

The sound of the door opening drew her attention. She turned to see him entering, looking a

little hesitant but effortlessly composed. His amber eyes met hers, and a soft smile tugged at

his lips. Her heart fluttered.

“Hey,” she greeted him, her smile wide and welcoming. “I’m glad you’re here.”

Kayden nodded and sat across from her, his presence calming yet magnetic. He pulled out his

phone and typed a message: "Is this bouquet for me? And the two sunflowers?"

Shree smiled, her eyes sparkling. “Yes,” she replied. “Two sunflowers symbolize loyalty,

unity, and love. They represent mutual admiration and happiness. And white lilies... well,

they’re my favorite flower.”

Kayden smiled faintly, his gaze softening. He typed another message: "You’re thoughtful. I

like that."

They began to talk—or rather, Shree spoke while Kayden listened and responded through his

phone. Despite the silent distance his lack of speech created, it felt oddly intimate. There was

a quiet understanding between them, as if they were both filling the empty spaces in each

other’s hearts.

As the evening progressed, Kayden seemed to open up in ways Shree hadn’t expected. His

expressions, his gestures, and even the way he looked at her spoke volumes. She wanted to

know everything about him, to understand the pain he carried.

“So, tell me everything,” she said gently, her voice full of curiosity. “What happened to you

after the accident?”

Kayden’s eyes flickered with emotion—pain, perhaps, or uncertainty. He hesitated before

typing out a response on his phone. "I had to learn to live again. Everything changed. But it’s

okay now. I’ve adapted."

Shree’s heart ached for him. She could see the layers of his story, waiting to be unraveled,

and she wanted to be the one to help him do that. The connection between them felt

undeniable, as if they had known each other in another lifetime.

After a wonderful evening together, Kayden insisted on paying the bill. As they left the

restaurant, he offered to drop Shree at her hostel. During the ride, Shree noticed how he

glanced at her, as if trying to memorize every detail about her. It made her heart race, yet it

also felt comforting.

When they arrived, Kayden hesitated for a moment before typing out another message. "Are

you free tomorrow? There’s something I want to show you."

Shree smiled. “Yes, but after 4 o’clock. Is that okay?”

"Perfect," he typed. "I’ll pick you up then."

Shree nodded. “Alright. Goodnight, Kayden. See you tomorrow.”

Kayden gave her a soft smile before typing one last message. "Goodnight, Shree. Sleep well."

As Shree walked into her hostel, she couldn’t help but feel a warmth spreading through her

chest. She knew she was falling for him, and something about the way he looked at her made

her believe he felt the same.

For the first time in a long time, both of them went to bed with hearts that felt just a little

fuller, as if they had found something they didn’t even know they were searching for.
